IIT Gandhinagar has its temporary campus functioning from the Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Chandkheda. ENERGY CONCLAVE

With the earth almost turning into an scorching inferno due to the incessant and reckless pollution created by us, we need an urgent increase in research and investment into non-conventional forms of energy, along with responsible people who are free of the 'who-cares' mindset that has brought us to this juncture in the first place. Keeping this in mind, the Conclave at Amalthea promises to spread the much-needed knowledge on "Non-Conventional Energy, its importance and scope ", waking people up to show them how new thinking is the only way to save our only home.Not only this but it promises to do it with a fresh approach, in a 'non-conventional way', to truly reach out to the audience and ignite a fire that will see the rise of a fine cadre of technocrats, who, with passionate fervor, will work for a better and more sustainable future for India and mankind as a whole.

Objectives:

ØBringing together an entire spectrum of experts, from industry leaders and top scientists to students who have developed innovative technology, from across the entire world, to offer insights into the entire plethora of opportunities, which development of non-conventional energy technology promises.

Introductory session

The first session of Conclave will start with an intense open discussion on the various aspects of taking India to the heights and prosperity by achieving self-reliance in the energy sector. The role of the young engineers in the upcoming clean energy sector will be of prime focus during this session.

This session will unveil the highest potential clean energy sector i.e. SOLAR ENERGY. It will witness discussion of topics like use of carbon Nanotubes in photovoltaic, hybrid cars, micro-inverters etc. The latest trends in power generation by wind energy like its designing aspects, use of magnetic levitation in wind turbines etc. will also be the part of this session.

CONCLAVE - DAY 1

Solar Energy (Direct and Indirect)

Bio Products

One of the most integral parts of mankind – Transportation, is soon to change. With the shortage of Fossil Fuels, the need for a transition from Fossil to Bio is of utmost importance. This session will have round of discussions on the efficient use of Bio Products and students will be brainstorming how to use these products efficiently and make the product reach out to masses.

Market Analysis

This session will hold discussions on type of energy sources which will emerge as market leaders for the coming decades. The presentation of the market analysis of the energy sector by various leading consultancy groups will be a part of this session. The ever-growing market of the clean energy sector will be emphasized.

Display of Technologies

The event will be concluded with the display of technologies of future, the green sources of energy that will lead our way into the future. Many prestigious colleges across the country will be invited to display their technologies. This will be a good opportunity for the venture capitalists to shell out their investments.

CONCLAVE - DAY 2

ROBOTICS

Its every technocrats first hand at practical implementation of what has been learnt, every nerd's passion, and the most fulfilling exploration of technology that any engineer can do. The robotics events at Amalthea are designed to challenge and motivate the participants at the same time, and bring out their best. It has been well realized that robotics is the best representative of the concept "multi-disciplinary". The events here promise to be melting pots of different engineering and technical fields and will set new benchmarks in collaboration between different disciplines.

Ever thought of using robots which could save humans from dying or free them from the most tedious job on the earth i.e. 'MINING'. Amalthea brings to the participants the challenging task of making robots which are prototypes of bots which can perform this task in deadly mines of Jharkhand.

Amalthea offers workshops that will give a peek into the futuristic

while enhancing basic knowledge, through the exploration of fields

such as mobile robotics and solar PVs, and the promise of being interesting. Knowledge of the

market, in fields such as investment banking, is essential to success, and the workshops here

will offer valuable insight into areas such as the share market.

The wonder of advanced technology descends as magic at Amalthea through its Proshows, which features spellbinding performances of amazing skill and technique by artists (who are also scientists!) from all over the world. A laser show always finds its audience rooted in a trance, the exuberant visual treat offered by the laser

lights transporting them to a different level of entertainment. Air shows, with intuition defying maneuvers on display, have been known to excite man since 1903. The pyrotechnic show depicts technology at its best, taming

the most dangerous element, fire, and creating a beautiful spectacle from it.

The host of environmental issues have set off panic among us. The only solution lies in adoption of technologies that ensure sustainability of natural resources. The Green Gang of

IIT Gandhinagar is ready to showcase the widest range of green technologies , and their own innovations, which will ensure our sustenance.

RURAL DEVELOPMENT

Have we overlooked upon the rural people who do not have even electricity in their villages while investing billions of dollars in Michia Kaku's self nano-fabricators or the

Pranav Mistry's 6th sense technology? Yes, we have. This event will highlight the commonly faced problems by the rural people of India and encourage the participants to solve these problems by coming up with a new product. NGO's will be funding the

implementation of the winner's project.
