Indian International Model United Nations
Indian International Model United Nations (IIMUN) is one of the India’s leading organization in education conference management having organized the Asia’s Largest Youth Conference in Mumbai which was attended by 1962 delegates. Being a conference for the youth by the youth, it is run completely by students in age group of 16-21 years. For the first time in the world, it provides the youth a platform to voice their opinions by forwarding their drafted resolutions to the United Nations. It is also the first MUN in Asia to have its own procedure. The events organized by IIMUN have been attended and supported by noted luminaries like Hon. UN Under Secretary General Mr. Peter Launsky, Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Hon. Minister of Agriculture, Shri Sharadchandra Govindrao Pawar, National Film Award winner, Mr. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, CEO of Future Group, Mr.
Kishore Biyani, National Information Officer of United Nations Information Centre, Mr. Rajiv Chandran, Leader and Chairperson of the Yuva Sena, Mr. Aditya Thackeray, Actor/ Comedian, Vir Das, Mr. Cyrus Broacha and many more.
Achievements of IIMUN:
The only Indian team to be invited to the United Nations General Assembly for a Model United Nations Workshop in August 2012.
Simulations of IIMUN in AIMUN (African International Model United Nations) and BIMUN (Bangladesh International Model United Nations).
Asia’s first MUNning procedure which has been accepted in 65 institutes.

IIMUN Chapters
People like things to come to them rather than going and getting them. Thus to make it easy for you, IIMUN has come up with the concept of Chapters. Here, the educational extravaganza comes to your hometown, so that you can enjoy the IIMUN experience without having to travel to Mumbai. The purpose of organizing Chapters is to increase awareness amongst students about International Relations, Geo-political scenario and teach them more about the United Nations. Our first chapter was organized in Pune which got an overwhelming response of over 400 students. This was followed by our second chapter in Hyderabad which was hosted in the Indian Institute of Information Technology Campus. From this September, IIMUN embarks on a journey to spread the message of the Model UN to different cities. Some of the cities are highlighted on the map given below:
IIMUN Kolkata
IIMUN Kolkata is set out to be the largest youth conference in Eastern India. The conference will host more than 500 students from in and around the state of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Orissa, North-east, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Dubai, Singapore, Nepal and Bangladesh and will showcase intense debate and discussion over a period of 3 days from December 13th -15th, 2013 at The Calcutta International School.
It has been over 56 years since the inception of the United Nations, this global organization has benefitted each and every one of its member nations in ways more than one. The decrease in fissiparous tendencies, definitely, being the crowning jewel. However, with the turn of the 21st century, the emphasis is strongly on building one global village. It is to this end, that Model United Nations has come into existence. We have come to realize that with over 2000 such
simulations taking place across the globe annually, the younger generation is fast grasping the nuances of international relations and politics.
Additionally, the one prominent thing that is absent is that the voice of the youth is not reaching the concerned authorities. So for the first time ever in any Model United Nations, the resolutions that will be passed shall be forwarded to the exact committees that you will be role-playing.
I.I.M . U.N. - Th e Di ff er e n c e:
DIRECT A ff i lia t i o n w i t h t h e U n i t e d Na t io n s : The most prominent thing that is absent is that the voice of the youth is not reaching the concerned authorities. So for the first time ever in any Model United Nations, the resolutions that will be passed shall be forwarded to the exact committees that the students will be role-playing.
M ag n it ud e : This was the LARGEST conference in ASIA with 30 committees and 1962 delegates from ALL ACROSS THE GLOBE. The Kolkata Chapter will be the LARGEST conference in East India with over 500 delegates.
I.I.M.U.N. Affiliations: This will be first ever conference in the continent to give out affiliations to other Model United Nations and help spread the culture of MUNning in regions where it is not very prominent. Till now we have touched
upon 62 educational institutes.
Host University Concept: I.I.M.U.N. is the first MUN in the world, to have tied up with universities in various cities in India and countries around the world. Every nation thatwe get our delegates from, would be having a prominent university called the “HostUniversity” which help I.I.M.U.N. reach out to as many students as possible.
World’s THIRD MUNning Procedure: After the HMUN & THIMUN procedures, IIMUN would have the world’s 3rd MUNning procedure.
E x p a n si o n P la n s : After its success in its inaugural season in India in 2012, we hope to spread the culture of IIMUN across the world. Hence, IIMUN would move to other nations in its future sessions. Our upcoming Chapter being Boston in early 2014.
Soc ial Media Ma rke ting: The Indian International Model United Nations Facebook page has 15,000 followers already. Through the Chapters we plan to broaden the scope, horizon and reach of IIMUN to 2,500 people per city. The Kolkata Chapter already has 1,900 followers on Facebook.
