The project will take place in Marsala (Tp) with an exhibition at Convento del Carmine (Carmine Convent) entitled “Ignazio Moncada. Attraverso il colore” (Ignazio Moncada. Through the colour) – from the 23 rd of June to the 4th of November 2018 - and the city of Palermo, Bagheria and Castelbuono with “Attraverso Palermo” (Through Palermo). It is an itinerary among historical buildings, medieval castles and noble houses with site-specific artworks and installations implemented by Moncada in the past years. “Attraverso Palermo” is part of Manifesta 12 Collateral Events. “IGNAZIO MONCADA. Through the colour”, curated by Sergio Troisi Marsala, Carmine Convent, from the 23rd of June to the 4th of November 2018 Marsala is the physical place where you can leaf through the visual alphabet of Ignazio Moncada, his feeling of colour, the tireless painting research focused on the avant-garde heritage, from the Futurism to the Abstraction of Constructivism. A great anthological exhibition, curated by the art historian Sergio Troisi, which retraces - through 50 artworks - the whole production of Moncada, from the geometrical abstractions of the ‘60s to the Transparency in the following decade, from the Archeological works to the Alesa collection which gives the fundamentals to the Pont Art work (big canvasses on the buildings’ scaffoldings in Milan during a restoration project), until the ‘90s – 2000 series dedicated to music, dance and myth: a decorative primitivism plunged into the Mediterranean memory. The exhibition in Marsala, to which Kalòs dedicated a catalogue, has been organized by “City of Marsala” the Exhibition Institute of Contemporary Painting with the Ignazio Moncada Archive.

Three great canvasses - “Le Rappresentazioni” (TheRepresentations)- will be exposed with the artwork “Archeologie Astratte” (AbstractArcheologies - 1979), within the permanent collection, a production dating back to 2000dedicatedtotheMetamorfosidelMito“MythMetamorphosis”andtheceramicsculpture“Ilpallottoliere”(Theabacus)willbeexposedinsidethe“gipsoteca”(theplastercastsgallery).
• Castelbuono (Pa).TheMuseoCivico (CivicMuseum) (atVentimigliaCastle)willenlarge itspermanent collection with the purchase of “La maga Circe” (Circe, the witch), an acrylicartworkdatingbackto2002.
Apapervademecum isdedicatedto this initiative, inspiredto thegraphicmarkofMoncada.Thispreciouspaperbrochure -besides containing theuser informationofPalermo thecultural sites -becomesa3Dminiatureofthe“restlessartistroom”andtheoriginaldraftofMoncadahasbeenprintedonthebackofaposterfortheBrancifortePalace’sceiling.ThearchitecturefirmRuggeroMoncadacreatedthisgraphicproject.
