Ignacy Jan Paderewski

He was born on November 6, 1860 , in Kuryłówka, small province in Russian Poland. In 1913 he moved to the USA, but after the outbreak of World War I he returned to Europe.

Polish pianist and composer –

Ignacy Jan Paderewski at an early age manifested interest in music and politics. After completing his studies at the university he became a piano teacher and he gave private lessons to children. Than he spent some time in London, where he concerts for Queen Victoria. He has performed in most countries in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Australia. The first major success was his debut as a pianist in 1887, and in 1888 he made his first big concert in Paris. Paderewski represented the interests of the Poles in the USA. He participated in several uprisings in the Polish. He spent a year in prison in Kijów for opposing Russians. He died in New York in 1941.
