“If you can’t outplay them, outwork
them.”
“What you lack in talent can be made up with de-
sire, hustle, and giving 110 percent all the time.”
“One man can be a crucial ingredient on a team,
but one man cannot make a team. ”

Sports Premium
Up until the academic year 2019/2020, the Government is making
available to all schools a sum of money annually to allow them to
continue to develop sports provision within school and to help
schools increase pupil participation in sporting activity. This money
presently equates to £8000 per school per year plus an additional
£5 per child. For our school this means approximately £9,200 per
year.
The Governors agree that the money must be used so that: all chil-
dren benefit regardless of sporting ability; that the most able chil-
dren are given the opportunity to compete in advanced tourna-
ments; that staff have access to training opportunities and contin-
ued professional development.

Horse Riding
Our children are given the
unique opportunity to try
out a sport that may oth-
erwise not be consid-
ered .
A group of children travel
to Stainsby Grange
Equestrian Centre every
week to learn how to care
for and ride horses. They
improve both their physi-
cal and mental toughness
This is the highlight of
my week—I can’t sleep
the night before. I’m so
excited to see my horse
again. Harris Y5
I feel so proud I’ve
conquered my fears. I
love “my” horse Molly.

All children are offered the opportunity to attend our Running
Club. This club offers the chance to build on basic fitness
levels and train in a fun environment where com-
mitment and enthusiasm are the main in-
gredients. It aims to embed the key health
factor of regular exercise routinely car-
I love using Albert
Park to practice
our running skills

Local and National Events
Stage three of the Tour de Yorkshire start-
ed in Middlesbrough and it brought a great
festival atmosphere. We helped design
and make some of the cultural bunting and
wall hangings which hung along the route
and promoted our fantastic town to the
world.
Each year we attend the
Show Racism the Red
Card children’s work-
shops at the Riverside
stadium. We learn how
to become responsible
citizens in an increas-
ingly multi-cultural soci-
ety.

Local and National Events
This year we have been Lucky enough to engage directly with
three Elite athlete tournaments. We were lucky enough to be in-
vited to watch and meet some of the All Blacks as they trained at
Darlington Mowden Park.
This inspired us to have a go at tag rugby which we continued to
practice throughout the year. As a reward for our efforts and en-
thusiasm we were asked to be the representatives of Newcastle
Falcons at a tag tournament at Twickenham.
Thanks Mr. An-
derson all your
coaching and
organising has
helped win this

Cricket Club & League
We love taking part in
tournaments against oth-
er schools in our area!
We get expert training from Grant
White who is our Yorkshire county
cricket coach. Straight arm bowling,
wicket keeping and stumping are all
things we are keen to improve.
I’ve made new
friends since I
started playing
cricket.

Girls’ and Boys’ Football
M ulti-sport sessions de-velop individual skills : throwing, catch-
ing ,evading , finding
space ,passing and dribbling to
name but a few.
Two of our
girls made it
through to the
Middlesbrough
schools’ trials

Dance / Gymnastics
We have strong links with the local Arts and Cultural Ser-
vices. We work alongside professional dance instructors to
develop practiced movement phrases. We are often invited
to showcase what we have learnt at festivals throughout
the year.
Every Thursday I practice
my movement phrases
and try to become more
bendy (flexible) I’ve
earned lots of badges
since joining. Leah Y4

Basketball / Netball
Every Monday we practice our invasion game skills
with the Axiom Volunteers who work alongside Teesside
Mohawks our local University Basketball team. They are
American and we love their accents. Monday’s sessions
are so much fun. We have even had chance to match our
skills up against other schools.

Club has been practicing all year—and
look what we have been awarded
with—a tournament at Twickenham
