Tell her I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile. Obituary

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes.

There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain,

for the old order of things has passed away."

Revelation 21:4

Murice Verlee Jenkins, 92, of Crossett, passed away Saturday, June 27,

2020. She was born in Hamburg, Arkansas, on October 16, 1927, to her

parents, Cecil Legett and Abbie Nora Rice. She was a lifelong resident of

Ashley County and a member of Beulahland Assembly of God.

While a youth, she worked in the cotton fields, began cooking for her

family at the age of 8, and helped her mother raise her siblings which

taught her the definition of hard work.

Happily and pridefully, Verlee wore the hat of caregiver to her siblings, her

children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, church family, and anyone

else who needed her caring touch.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, tending to her flower beds, and being

her husband’s fishing partner. She was a fantastic cook and was known

for her fresh apple tarts, which she made straight from her apple trees.

Most importantly, Verlee loved the Lord, and she faithfully carried her

children to church while they were young, so they too would have a

personal relationship with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Archie Lee Jenkins;

one grandson, Tracy Jenkins; her parents, Cecil Legett Rice and Abbie

Nora Stanley Rice; and four siblings, Charles Faye Rice, Tracy Rice, Thomas

Madison Rice, and Julia Ann Jenkins.

She is survived by two sons, Legett Jenkins of Crossett and Russell Jenkins

and wife, Judy, of Harrison, AR; one daughter, Candace Courson, and

h usband, Charlie, of Crossett; three sisters, Lexi Mae Estelle, and husband,

Julian, and Gladys Martin, both of Hamburg, and Dixie Bays and husband,

Danny, of Crossett; one special daughter-in-law, Ann Jenkins of Cabot,

AR; and seven grandchildren, Tammy Farmer (Brian), Gena Brown

(Bruce), Rusty Courson (Shannon), Kelly Mynatt (Andy), Mickey Courson

(Amy), Tiffany Teague (Joe), and Mark Jenkins (Heather); along with 14

great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
