In taking you through my works, I wanted to start at the very beginning. Since memories of my early works are not that clear to me anymore, I needed to commission help from my parents. According to them, my first artistic performance took place when I was three years old. It was then that I created a piece which was 1.5 times higher and 10 times wider than me. My parents swear that this early work was truly ingenious. Analyzing my piece today, my mom claims that it was of equal value and beauty as art of contemporary artists such as Pollock, Rothko and de Kooning. Unfortunately, that work did not achieve similar success. I believe that this is due to three reasons:• Firstly, I was too young to promote my art well –

my network was not in the right circles• Secondly, the surface I decorated was not well

though through – it was the back of a sofa in the living room

• Lastly, the colors I used were not permanent – my critics erased it upon discovery

Hence, collection of my early works presented here is unfortunately not complete. However, it may demonstrate that I started experimenting with materials and styles very early on.

At the age of 18 I seemed to have found my own, unique style. I focused on feelings, nature of things beyond the obvious, play of colours and anything else that my heart desired at a particular time in life.

Whilst many of my paintings and artworks are of typical poster size, a true joy comes when I create oversized canvas – there is a certain type of freedom in creating large works. My largest painting thus far is 2 x 2 meters. However, I am already thinking about the next work which I can promise will be much larger than that.

My paintings are created with acrylics, oil and industrial colours. Despite the fact that my style can appear spontaneous and instinctive, the reality is that creating an artwork, especially on oversize canvass, requires an incredible amount of planning, preparation and time management. In the next slides I present a selection of artworks which were previously displayed in numerous personal and collective exhibitions.

Dancing peopleAcrylic colors on canvassDimension 2 x 1.6 meters. 2010

This artwork was painted during busy and happy times when I was testing my business idea of 5 star hotel service to Airbnb hosts. I used painting as an effective way to recharge my batteries after very intense days of work.

The elephantOil colors on canvassDimensions 1m x 1m2009

This work was created during a very difficult time as a way to express frustration and disappointment.

Painting at that time was way to relax and to add joy to life, but also a way to reflect and decide on how to deal with difficult situations.

Urban riotsAcrylic and pastel colorsDimensions 2 x 1.6m2012

This artwork represents my view on an episode of violence that took place in Rome in 2012 – urban guerrilla, today called “the day of rage”. I experienced the episode first hand as a resident of the affected suburb.

I painted this artwork on a large canvass (2 x 1.6 meters) in order to realistically include the figure of a spectator . The colorful back ground depicts fire and smoke, symbolizing a future with less violence and more dialogue.

FlowersOil, acrylic and industrial colors on canvassDimensions 1.2 x 0.8m2010

This artwork is part of series. Created as an experimentation with a “surrealist automatism” technique. The main idea is to suppress the conscious action of painting, allowing the unconscious mind to express internal emotions and feelings. I found this experiment unique and fascinating.

Escape of colors #1Acrylic colors on canvassDimensions 1 x 0.8m2009

Series of three artworks for my three closest friends.I consider these paintings very special because of three main reasons: firstly, gifting art gave me profound feeling of joy. Secondly, having my art as a permanent part of their homes makes me a permanent part of their lives. Thirdly, a special dedication at the back made each piece one of a kind.

This panorama is one of the tiniest of my artworks. It was painted after visiting the exhibition of Edward Hopper, a talented and famous American artist. I was fascinated by his art and I wanted to experiment with his way of painting. I believe this small painting represents the existence of everyone; a man is contemplating on a beautiful sunset while thinking about life .

Le bainAcrylic colors on canvassDimensions 1 x 1m2011

I created a series of 2 artworks commissioned by a roman business man. The paintings were presented during the inauguration of one of his clubs and are now a part of its permanent collection.

The person who commissioned the paintings was, for a period of my life, a fiend, mentor and an influencer.

Soft wordsAcrylic colors on canvassDimensions 0.5 x 0.5m

A very small painting with a big message. It represents the edge between gently talking and screaming. The white profile expresses a thought with soft words. The black profile expresses a thought with a scream.

The artwork was also used in a video supporting an anti-nicotine campaign.

El tango negroAcrylic colors on photo paperDimensions 0.6 x 0.5m2014

Series of two paintings created as a reminiscence of my journey to Argentina in 2000. The moment captured is a memory of a lunch in a bar when I witnessed two street artists perform a beautiful tango.

The hugFoils of copper and woodHight 0.3m2015

One of very few sculptures I created, fully designed and crafted in about 5 hours.

The sculpture represents a moment immediately before two people hug. Inspired by a memory from Brisbane, Australia where and I got fascinated by a guy who was advertised “free hugs” for everyone.

My few three-dimensional artworks are built of clay, chalk and metal foils.

You may find it strange that my family held on to my early works. The truth is that my works still exist because of my wonderful mother. I started painting because of her. I wanted to be like her - a truly talented, romantic artist whose works affect the viewers so much that they clearly feel emotions of the artist and vibrations of his energy. I observed my mom paint since my very early days and reaching for a brush as a child seemed like a natural next step. For a very long time, my mother was my only muse. She has always taken great pride in my creations and encouraged me to keep trying (and often failing) to express my true self. The push to express myself became evident in my personal and professional life. I have always strived to be honest to myself, against all odds.My life took many unexpected turns, as highlighted in my application. Thanks to the lessons of my mother, I managed not to give up and to make the best out of each turn. I managed to grow, develop and mature. Today, I have reached a new level of clarity in what I would like my future to be and hence my IE application.Thank you for your attention.
