S/S 2011

The act of sailing brings so much pleasure into my world. It

is always peaceful, quiet, and wonderful. I am always in awe

of how many shapes the sails can create while blowing in

the wind. The movement of the sails constructs tremendous

amounts of architectural details. The various abstract shapes

make me think of buildings, sculptures, and sometimes

even animals. The sails remind me of a cloud in the sky. It

can be fluid and transform its shape into so many elements.

The details of the sails and the act of sailing influenced the

silhouette, the draping, and the design of this Spring and

Summer 2011 collection. I am intrigued and humbled by the

philosophy behind sailing. One must be patient and work

with nature. You cannot force the wind to move in a certain

direction. You have to watch, listen, and let the wind guide

you. This process is the same as in design and in life.

It was a pure joy to be collaborating with my dear friends and

business partners Evangelina Owens and Miles Johnson. Our

first shoot together was a dream. We were so fortunate to

have such a fantastic team on this project. A big thank you to

Solestruck for loaning us beautiful shoes for the shoot. And

a heartfelt thank you to our IDOM family. Cheers too many
