Digital2

The IAACC Pablo Serrano opens the new edition of the program “Lateral Impulse” 2015, with Digital2, the work of Jaime San-

juan. His work is doubly digital: all the above pictures are digital paintings painted with his fingers on an iPad. As a result of his artistic training in traditional media (oil, pastel, water-color, acrylic, etc.) the techniques used by the artist are very similar to those used in traditional paintings, giving their digital works a marked pictorial character. Their detailed works represent, in some cases, nearly 100 hours.

Due to the conceptual prob-lem of a digital hyperrealist painting does not differ at all from a digital photograph,

the surprising hyperrealism of its first digital pictures soon evolves into a style close to Surrealism. By expos-ing Digital2 the author wants to jump from the screen to the wall and bring this new type of art to the public.

Write a short summary with the techniques and methods used by Jai-me Sanjuan.

Digital Finger Painting ?

SO, WHAT IS...

Digital Finger Painting is a new wave of ‘i-Art’. It can be created using finger-painting techniques in applications such as Pixelmator, Procreate2, Brushes and Sketchbook Pro. (some of them just for 4.99$)

The craze is even established artists, who are abandoning their canvases in favour of the 9.7-inch iPad screen.

Galleries across the world are hanging the ex-traordinary digitally-created pieces on their walls and some iPad prints are even being sold for hundreds of pounds.

Ehsan Azzuz, who works with computer graphics by day, produces stunning artwork on his daily commute.

This is not an entirely American phenomenon either. David Hockney, probably Britain’s most famous living artist, has put aside his paintbrush in favour of creating artwork on his iPad. The artist, who has also in the past exhibited images created on his iPhone says: ‘The iPad is far more subtle, in fact it really is like a drawing pad’.

Tools used by digital finger painting artists are:

Pogo Sketch Pro: Artists love the Pogo Sketch Pro. This stylus combines a natural, ergonomic grip, the very best in tip technology, and a balanced unibody aluminum handle.

Procreate2: This app includes brushes ranging from true-to-life sets of pencils, inks and paintbrushes to wonderfully imaginative digital effects, providing all the tools you need.

Kyle Lambert: Although it seems like an actual photo, this picture of Rihanna is a Digital Finger Painting done by artist Kyle Lambert. There’s even an online video which shows the whole process. He used an iPad, the software Procreate2 and a Pogo Connect Sty-lus. There’s another Digital Finger Paint-ing of Morgan Free-
