Identity Wallpaper
Tip submitted by Donna Klyne
If you happen to misplace or lose your iPad/iTouch and you have it password protected, there is no way for the person who finds it to be able to return it to you quickly unless you put an “identity wallpaper” with your name and phone number on it. This would be the first thing the person sees when they open your iPad/iTouch.
To create the identity wallpaper, you can take your favourite picture or a background picture that you saved on your computer.
1. Right click on the picture and open with “Paint”. 2. Once you are in “Paint” select the “Text” by clicking the “A” symbol. Choose the color of your
text by clicking on the color you want in “Color 1”. Depending on your background, you would choose a contrasting color that would stand out clearly.
3. Click anywhere on your picture to start typing the information. You can change the font type and size and bold if you like. Select a big font as you will want it clear enough to see when you have it on your iPad/iTouch. (For example, I use 90 as my font size).
4. You can type in whatever information you want -‐ name, phone number or email address or (“reward” like Conrad suggested). After entering all the information, you can “save as” which would save your edited picture but keep the original as it is.
5. Email the picture to the email account on your iPad/iTouch.
6. Open the email with your picture; select the option that will “save image”. On my iTouch, it’s an arrow on the bottom of the screen that brings up this option. Once you save your image, it should be in your “Saved Photos”.
7. On your “Settings” icon in “Wallpaper” choose your photo. It will ask you to “set” or “cancel”. Note: Make sure your picture is clear before you “set”. If you set it too quickly, it may appear blurry.
