Vocabulary

Dear Family,

Today my class started the Multiplication and Division chapter. I will be

learning how to multiply and divide by 0, 1, 3, and 4. I will also learn about the

Identity and Zero Properties of Multiplication and how to identify extra or

missing information in problems. Here are my vocabulary words that I will be using

during my lessons.

Love,

p.s. Look on the back of this letter to find some quick practice tips that we can

do together in the car along with an activity and books for us to read at home.

At Home ActivityMaterials: 12 circles

• Cut 12 circles out of construction paper.• Ask: How many circles are there in all?• How many groups of 3 can you make?• How many groups of 4 can you make?• If you take 3 away, how many groups of

3 can you make?• Continue dividing bY different numbers

and groups.

Travel TalkPractice your basic multiplication facts for 0, 1, 3, and 4. Also, have your students name the related division fact for each. Decompose larger numbers into smaller numbers to find known facts. For example: 4 × 25 breaks into 4 × (20 + 5).

Vocabulario

Estimada familia:

cociente

12 ÷ 3 = 4

Spaghetti and Meatballs For All!
