Gerber Technology’s premier software experience, ideation 2019, offers two days of informative breakout sessions, panel discussions,hands-on workshops, demonstrations, strategic executive sessions, case studies and networkingopportunities.

Here’s to the fifth time!2019 marks five years since Gerber Technology’s inaugural student competition, and with each year offering even fiercer competition, this anniversary edition looks to be the best yet! 2018 saw a total of 100 competing students across 40 schools and 4 countries, and from that number, five finalists were selected to participate at ideation 2018 in Miami.

Consider this your invite: the path is tough, but the payoff is potentially boundless.

Who: Students pursuing a degree in Fashion, currently enrolled at least part-time in a fashion design program at an accredited institution of higher learning, and who are prepared to provide official documents such as a passport or other acceptable state-issued ID for travel. Five winners will be selected to participate in a fashion show at ideation 2019.What: ideation 2019 Student FashionTech Competition.When: January – May, 2019, and October 23 – 25, 2019.Where: Wherever fashion is found, with the five selected winners joining us in NYC for ideation 2019.Why: Competing students will be challenged to push their design limits and combine creativity and ingenuity, in order to submit a winning entry selected for a runway top spot at ideation 2019. How to enter:Announce your students’ participation no later than 02/01/2019. They in turn will need to complete this entry form in order to compete, verifying that they have read and understand the rules, guidelines, and timelines of the competition. Students can use Coloro, Pantone, or any other color development tool to build a color palette of their own design. White, black, and neutrals should not be used as the focal color but can be applied as trim and secondary colors. Otherwise, go wild!

Step 1: Pick a color!

Students can use any site or app to develop color and should be able to communicate their color choices through use of RGB, CMYK, Hex Code or similar.

Students must follow these guidelines when incorporating technology into their designs.• Previously listed categories are examples. Students are welcome to submit alternate

concepts as use of technology.• Technology must be presented as part of each entrant’s designdraft.• Technology must be functional as incorporated into the design itself. For example, if an

entrant designs a garment that can use solar energy panels to charge a phone, this must be a working feature.

• Entrants are required to use AccuMark and YuniquePLM as default parameters. Therefore, neither AccuMark nor YuniquePLM can be named as the technologycomponent of the entry.

Students should always feel welcome and be encouraged to contact us directly at [email protected] with any questions they may have at any stage of the competition.

In order to enter the competition, students must submit a design draft, containing the following information:• 1 design interpretation submitted as both a fashion illustration and flats, containing

a front and back view for both.• Brief outline of how technology will be employed as part of the project. This can

include any combination of sketches, photos, or written description, and must be asdetailed as possible.

• The design draft must be transmitted via email to [email protected] materials --- sketches, flats, and outline --- must be contained within a zip file or similar folder, attached directly to the email entry.

• The body of the email must contain the following:– Student Name & Email– School– Faculty Advisor’s Name & Email

• Email containing design draft entry must be sent to and received at the above address at or before 11:59 PM, PST, 03/01/2019.

Step 4: AccuMark!AccuMark Requirements

Students must submit AccuMark pattern data, on or before 03/29/19.• Additional reference materials will be distributed

to entrants to assist with completing this step.• Pattern pieces must be grouped together as a

model and exported as a zip file.• Pattern data can be created within the

AccuMark Pattern Design Software or digitized using AccuScan, Digitizer, or Silhouette.

• This data need not be the final draft but should communicate progress in the development of the overall garment design. The AccuMark model must contain all pieces of the previously submitted design draft.

• The zip file must be sent to and received at [email protected], at or before 11:59 PM, PST, on 03/29/19.

Step 5: YuniquePLM!YuniquePLM Requirements

Students must submit a YuniquePLMtech pack in PDF format, due 04/26/19.• Additional reference materials will

be distributed to entrants, to assist with completing this step.

• Tech pack must include illustrations, technical sketches, measurements, costing information, and bill of materials provided as YuniquePLM data.

• The tech pack PDF must be sent to and received at [email protected], at or before 11:59 PM, PST, on 04/26/2019.

Step 6: Social Media!

Please use the hashtags:

• #ideationGT• #competition

and post to your Twitter and/or Instagram accounts.

• Students must post at least four photos or videos, using the hashtags #ideationGTand #competition, to their Twitter and/or Instagram accounts on or before May 31, 2019.

• Each post must indicate progress made toward completion of the final garment.• Not only will Gerber Technology start to see the inspirations take shape, but global

fashion corporations following ideation 2019 will also be able to view entrants’ progress.

Entrants’ progress will be tracked through social media.

Step 7: Submit your garment!Garment Requirements

Each completed garment must include the following:• Each piece must include student name and school.A fabric label can be sewn on or safety pinned to

garment, but there must be a physical identifier securely fastened.• Each entrant is solely responsible for all areas of the design and entry process. They must create

illustrations, develop technological aspects, draft patterns, develop the tech pack, and sew their owngarments.

• Garments can be created as part of a class assignment or independently.• There are no gender or sizing restrictions.• Address and send

While Gerber does try to make every effort to return the entries to the point of origin, we are not responsible for the return or the preservation of said entries (see Competition Terms and Conditions for furtherdetails). Where and Why…Five winning entries will be chosen by Gerber and will be judged on creativity, use of technology, and construction skills. The five selected winners will receive the following:

• Entry to ideation 2019• Two nights’ hotel stay, shared accommodations, at ideation hotel NYC Marriott Marquis, not to exceed $300• Travel to and from each winner’s home city to ideation 2019, up to a maximum value of $400• A one year license to AccuMark and YuniquePLM, including access to training content in Gerber University,

with an additional one year AccuMark 3D license awarded to one student as voted on by ideation attendees• Participation in a panel discussion at ideation 2019 discussing the design process• Networking opportunities with industry leaders at ideation 2019

• No purchase necessary to enter or win.• Entrants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of entry, and be prepared to furnish official documents such as a

passport or other acceptable state-issued ID for travel.• Void where prohibited by law, not open to residents of Quebec.• Employees and their immediate family members (parents, children, siblings or spouse, regardless of where they live, or

persons living in the same household, whether related or not) of Gerber Technology LLC (“Sponsor”) are not eligible. • Each entry must be submitted by an individual (“Entrant”); teams are not permitted.• Eligibility subject to verification.• Subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, including tax laws.• Prizes are non-transferable, and no substitution is permitted, except that Gerber Technology reserves the right to

substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Winners are responsible for all taxes payable on prizes, and Sponsor shall issue such IRS reporting forms as are required, which may require the Entrant’s Social Security or other appropriate tax identification number.

• Entries must be submitted in accordance with steps 1 – 7 above. Non-conforming, illegible, incomplete andlate entries will not be considered.

• By entering, each Entrant represents and warrants that, to the best of Entrant’s knowledge, the entry: (1) is Entrant’s original creation and is not copied from any third party design; (2) does not incorporate any logos or trademarks or infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party; and (3) has not been submitted to any other contest or for commercialization by any third party.

• Sponsor shall not be responsible for the return or preservation of submissions, including garments. All materials are submitted at Entrant’s risk and expense. Although Sponsor takes all reasonable care with each garment received,Sponsor does not guarantee the security or integrity of submissions, and Sponsor is not responsible for loss or damageof any submission while in its possession or duringshipment.

• Social media posts including #ideationGT (the “Hashtag”) shall not include any infringing, defamatory, obscene, violent, pornographic, disparaging, derogatory, or otherwise inappropriate content which could offend a person of reasonable sensibilities or cause harm to Sponsor’s reputation or that of any individual. Social media posts shall not include any intellectual property, including trademarks or copyright-protected materials, owned by anyone other than Entrant, nor depict any individual other than Entrant. Sponsor reserves the right to delete any post violating this provision, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.

• Each Entrant hereby grants to Sponsor permission to store, share with its third-party service providers, and use Entrant’s information, including name, school, image, photograph and likeness (if included in entries or social media posts using the Hashtag), and submissions, including social media posts using the Hashtag, for purposes of conducting the Competition; to contact Entrant using the information provided; and to reproduce, publish, display, distribute, and use any or all of the foregoing for advertising and promotional purposes, including on Sponsor’s website and in online and any and all other media, without compensation, except where prohibited by law.

• Sponsor is not responsible for confirming receipt of any entry or submission, or for confirming compliance with any of the foregoing steps 1-7 above. Timely and complete submission of all required information and materials, in accordance with steps 1-7 above, is the responsibility of each Entrant.

• Five (5) winning entries will be selected by Sponsor or its designee(s) from among all eligible entries on or about 6/28/2019 .

• Sponsor or its designee(s) shall be the sole judge of all entries, in its or their sole discretion, and will select five (5) winning entries from among the complete and timely entries. All decisions of Sponsor or such designee(s) shall be final and binding in all respects.

• Each Entrant is solely responsible for all areas of the design and entry process and must create wholly original illustrations, develop technological aspects, draft patterns, develop the tech pack, and sew their own garments. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry that is not wholly original to Entrant.

• The Entrant of each selected winning entry (“selected winners”) will be required to complete further documentation, including an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release, except where prohibited by law. Only after eligibility isconfirmed in accordance with the foregoing will a selected winner be deemed a “Winner” and entitled to receive the prizes.

• Sponsor is not responsible for undeliverable prize notifications or other communications, whether due to a change in email address, service failure, or any other reason. If any notification or other documentation is returned as undeliverable,or if a selected winner fails to return any required documents within the specified time, or if a selected winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor may in its sole discretion determine an alternate selected winner.

• Sponsor may cancel or modify the Competition or these Rules at any time, including if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control threatens to impair the administration, integrity, legality, fairness or proper functioning of the Competition. Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, disqualify, or rescind any prize awarded to, any Entrant or selected winner suspected or found to be tampering with the Competition or acting in violation of these Rules or any law.

• Sponsor is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, or any printing or typographical errors or equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Competition; (2) technical failures of any kind including, but not limited to, malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry or judging process or the Competition; (4) technical or human error in the administration of the Competition or the processing or review of Entries; (5) late, lost or undeliverable messages, notifications or Entries; or (6) any injury or damage to persons or property caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from any Entrant’s participation in the Competition or any Competition-related activity, or the receipt, use or misuse of any prize.

• Ideation, the G Logo, and other Sponsor marks are trademarks of Gerber Technology LLC and/or its affiliates. All other company names and trademarks are registered and unregistered trademarks or copyrights of their respective owners and are used for reference purposes only. This Competition is not sponsored by or associated with Coloro LLC or Pantone LLC.
