Please note that for ActivityBase, SARgen and XLfit mixed MS Office environments e.g. Office 2003 and 2007 are not supported for the same IDBS product installation.
Office 365 support is limited to the use of the Office desktop client and not Office Web Apps. This document will therefore only reference the supported desktop client for this product, Office 2013.
Windows 7 Support is for Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate Editions. It cannot be guaranteed that other editions will function as expected.
IDBS support the latest Windows service pack unless otherwise stated. Customers are recommended to upgrade to the latest patch set for maximum stability.
IDBS support the latest Microsoft Office service pack unless otherwise stated. Customers are recommended to upgrade to the latest patch set for maximum stability.
All IDBS Development and Testing is performed with only a single version of the IDBS software installed. Attempting to use multiple versions at the same time is not supported by IDBS and should any issues be encountered it will be requested that only a single software version is installed.
Product Support Lifecycle
The defined configuration has been fully tested by IDBS as part of the Product Release process. Any reported issue will be processed by IDBS Support, where the IDBS Product is still within the supported timeframe (see Product Lifecycle Support below)
The defined configuration has not been tested at IDBS and this environment may not even be available for any issue investigation. This document summarises the levels of support that IDBS currently provide for its products in different software environments. It also indicates version compatibility between key IDBS products.
IDBS are committed to providing support for all active versions of released software, i.e. those on Full and Extended support. Products will however reach the end of their supported lifespan as new versions are released. The standard support policy is to provide Full Support for the superseded version for a minimum period of 2 years. After Full Support expires, the product version will be supported with Extended Support for a further 6 months.

All calls to the IDBS Customer Support will be dealt with, including logging of enhancement requests, and defect fixes that will be considered for the next service release or the next product version, where possible.
IDBS Customer Support will answer general questions and assist with providing workarounds to problems. No service releases for these versions will be released.
Out of SupportIDBS Customer Support may no longer have access to this software version and may be unable to assist with any problems or questions. Such issues may be referred to an Account Manager.
Platform support details always relate to the latest service release of the IDBS product unless otherwise indicated.

IDBS do not support Windows Terminal Server with any of their products.
All IDBS Software Development and Testing is performed using the Windows Groups "Administrators" followed by "Users". This ensures Non-Admininstrative Users can successfully use IDBS Software. The "Users" group is used as per Microsoft recommendations for running applications. Customer specific User Groups must be validated by the customer and IDBS does not take responsibility for the configuration or testing of these.
For each Oracle client installation you should ensure that the Oracle NLS_LANG parameter matches that of the database. To find out what character set, language, or version of Oracle you are currently using, the following query should be executed in SQL Plus:
The Result Writing Component (RWC) server for ActivityBase 7.x is not currently supported when run on the same Windows 2003 server as the Citrix Server.
IDBS support the latest Oracle patch set for each major version unless otherwise stated. Customers are recommended to upgrade to the latest patch set for maximum stability.
The client workstation Regional Settings should match those of the Oracle Client Settings i.e. if the Oracle decimal separator is set as ‘.’ then this should be the same within the Windows Regional options. Failure to do this can result in numeric data corruption.
This should be compared to the Oracle Client settings. This can be determined by executing the following query in SQL Plus:
SELECT A.VALUE FROM NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS A WHERE A.PARAMETER=’NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS’;
The results of both these queries should be the same.

Citrix/Terminal Server Support
When using Citrix it is necessary to ensure that all IDBS Applications are published ensuring that Session Sharing is set correctly due to applications calling others e.g. SARgen and SARview. For details on Citrix Session Sharing please refer to the following Citrix article:
Standard Edition One, Standard and Enterprise editions of Oracle are supported with the exception of ActivityMart which is only supported on Enterprise Edition.
For client applications running on Windows 7, 8 and Vista, all development and testing at IDBS is performed when User Account Control (UAC) configured to the lowest setting. If experiencing problems please disable this feature.
Oracle Notes
For ActivityBase chemistry customers, matching the Oracle client language and numeric character settings to the database server are not sufficient; instead the Windows locale should match the database locale to allow numeric chemistry settings to be correctly saved as floating point numbers.

Virtualisation Support
Symyx Direct Chemistry Support
IDBS will support customers who run IDBS products that make connections with Symyx Direct versions 5.1 and above. However, IDBS may not be able to recreate the exact client environment with respect to the Symyx Direct version.
1) IDBS will provide standard support to all IDBS products2) If a problem is encountered, the client may be required to assist IDBS in locating the cause of the issue by recreating and troubleshooting the problem on the client installation
Software virtualisation, such as VMWare is supported by IDBS according to a standard set of definitions. This includes running Windows emulators such as VM Fusion for Macs. These can be found in the following document:

For issues suspected of being related to the load balancing technology in place, IDBS will provide support on the basis of reasonable endeavours, but reserves the right to require customers to reconfigure their E-WorkBook deployment to bypass such third-party technology to eliminate or isolate this as the root cause.
3) If a defect is confirmed and a fix is provided, IDBS may request the client to assist in confirmation of the fix
This is the support policy for IDBS products that make connections to the Symyx Direct chemistry data cartridge.
IDBS expects customers making use of load balancers to have entered into a technical support contract with a suitable third party to obtain assistance with technical issues relating to this technology. IDBS is willing to work with customer-contracted third-parties to resolve issues involving the interaction of E-WorkBook and load-balancing technology.
IDBS has tested E-WorkBook against the commercially available load balancer product Nginx Plus and has made available a document describing how this product was configured for this testing. However, this does not constitute an endorsement of this or any other third-party load balancing product.

If working with Office 2007 documents in an environment where Office 2003 is still utilised, the Office 2003 installations must have the ‘Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats’ installed. This is required to ensure that Office 2007 document formats such as .docx and .xlsx can be opened with Office 2003.
Prism Support shows the versions of the Prism Viewer or Full version used for IDBS Testing. Where the Full version has not been tested, but the Viewer has, IDBS would expect this to function as expected but cannot guarantee this. Please note no testing is performed with the 'Network license' of Prism and IDBS cannot guarantee the functionality of this installation type.
ActivityBase1 For Office Support with E-WorkBook the following documents types are tested and supported for document insert, display pages functionality and inclusion of the document within PDFs: Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The other documents within MS Office may be captured by E-WorkBook but the inclusion of these documents in Page Previews and within PDFs has not been explicitly tested by IDBS.2 Whilst the E-WorkBook client is supported on 32 bit Windows, IDBS recommends that customers use 64 bit Windows with the E-WorkBook 64-bit client so that more memory can made available to the application. This will result in better performance and capabilities especially when handling large files. If a 32 bit Windows is used to capture large files customers may experience issues.
3 E-WorkBook 9.4.x support is limited to ActivityMart 3.3.4 and E-WorkBook 9.4.2. Please note that catalog inheritence and the Asset Hub are not supported.

NotesOracle 12c is supported in E-WorkBook 10.0.2 and above, and has been tested using version 12.1.0.2 Enterprise only. Please note that only installs are supported; to upgrade from Oracle 11, E-WorkBook must first be upgraded to 10.0.2 before following the "E-WorkBook 10.0.2 - Upgrading or Migrating To Oracle 12c" document to migrate to a new server running Oracle 12. For E-WorkBook 10.0.2 and above, Oracle 12c is only supported on Windows Server 2012 R2 and Red Hat Linux 7; Oracle 11 is only supported on Windows Server 2008 R2 and Red Hat Linux 5 & 6. "IDBS have observed that performing an out-of-place Oracle upgrade on an E-WorkBook database will encounter Oracle defects related to Oracle text indexing and CDC functionality (CDC in E-WorkBook 10.0.1 and below). Therefore IDBS strongly recommend that a new Oracle instance is created at the required Oracle version and the IDBS export-import procedure is used to migrate an E-WorkBook database. This procedure is described in the E-WorkBook Suite Database Export Import Guide; a version for each E-WorkBook release is available on the Customer Support Portal. It is highly recommended that Java Automatic Update is disabled on client machines using the Java Control Panel.
The IDBS Structure Viewer and Convert Structure Format nodes are only supported on servers running Windows 32 or 64 bit and on the client machine running 32 or 64 bit Windows.

As the chemistry rendering functionality in the web client (versions 8.1 to 8.4) relies on NPAPI, this means editing of chemical structures is no longer possible in Chrome in these versions.
Support for Firefox refers to the extended support release (ESR) versions only.
If using the Oracle Data Provider for .Net (ODP.Net) to connect with IDBS .Net applications such as Plate Creator and Reporter with Oracle 10 it is necessary to use those components installed with the provided ODAC1020221.exe Prerequisites file. The ODP.Net components supplied with Oracle 10.2.0.4 cause connection problems with these tools.
Running the ActivityBase system, client - Fileserver - Application Server - Oracle Database Server, is only supported in a LAN (Local Area Network) environment. IDBS do not support the use of the ActivityBase Suite over a WAN (Wide Area Network). It is recommended that the connectivity between the ActivityBase Client and the Oracle Server, Application Server and File Server be at least 100MB/s. Ideally network latency not exceeding 50ms roundtrip time.

It is recommended that the connectivity between the Reporter Client and the Oracle Server be at least 100MB/s. Ideally network latency not exceeding 50ms roundtrip time.
Windows 7 and Office 2010 support for Reporter 7.4.x is only for version 7.4.4 and above. Windows 8.1 and Office 2013 support is for Reporter 7.5.2 only.
The Reporter Client launches in 32 bit mode on 64-bit Windows 7 and requires a 32-bit Oracle Client. Currently only Oracle 11 clients have been tested.
Platform Support for Reagent Finder for E-WorkBook is defined as the supported Reporter releases for a particular E-WorkBook version. Reagent Finder is not supported in E-WorkBook 10.
