Convergence Technology

• Due to the fast development of internet protocol applications, nowadays in all over the world, the networks providers are facing the new challenge that could not be avoided if its still wants to keep and maintain its customers.

• Technology had converge: telecommunication, internet, and broadcasting services in the same networks.

• This convergence technology and services could only effective be applied in “broadband networks based on fiber optic, or minimum with 4G GSM Radio Technology”.

• The new problem occurs and should be faced by the operator is to prepare the proper fiber optic networks and its technician who will build and operate the system.

Problem in broadband networks development

• The existing p-to-p fiber optic networks are not longer a solution for massive service provision. The new FTTx networks should be developed and spread all over the city area.

• The constraints :

– Permits /Local Regulation that still not accept the best practice solution for massive fiber optic networks deployment => microduct pipe, duct/pole sharring.

– The Local Government still not aware that the broadband networks is the main key success factor for smart city applications that want to be implemented. State of the art technology for broadband networks is “fiber optic technology” that could be combined with radio access technology for services acceleration to the society.

– The networks provider need more fiber optic engineers and technician to build and operate the fiber optic networks => no school/university prepare of its.

Signing Agreement with Directorate PSMK, Ministry of Education

On 31 st December 2015, APJATEL and Directorate of

PSMK, Ministry of Education Republic of Indonesia had

signed the Agreement with the spirit of mutual benefits.

The agreement Objectives :

1. Empowerment of Vocational High School Students

Majoring in Networks and Computer with Fiber Optic

Networks Technology and Skills to fullfill the

telecommunication network providers requirements.

2. Establishment of 100 Vocational High School in 25

Provinces as a Training Center and Certification

Institution for IP Layer 1- Layer 3 Networks based on

Fiber Optic Technology.

3. To train, assits and give an opportunity for apprentice

program to 600 teachers and 10.000 Students of

Vocational High School in the companies members

of APJATEL, within 3 years.
