New staff … new schools …
We are pleased to announce the recent appointment of Nick
Speller, who joined us in September. Nick is well known in
Oxfordshire education circles having spent six years with the
Oxfordshire County Council ICT advisory team. Nick has
progressive views relating to the ICT support primary schools in
Oxfordshire require and will play a key role in delivering the
training aspect of our service.
The start of the autumn term has started with our largest
increase in support contracts to date and we are looking
forward to working with all the schools that have joined us. We
take our responsibilities seriously and continue to strive to
improve the ICT support service we offer. Thank you for your
continued support and all the best for a successful year. Nick L

123 Sponsorship …
Many schools approach us asking if we would be interested in
sponsoring equipment and certain events. In response to this,
we have decided to put all the approved requests into a termly
draw. This term St Blaise CE Primary School were successful
and 123ICT have sponsored their new football team kit. Please
email [email protected] if you would like to take
part in our Christmas sponsorship draw. Stuart
123 curriculum update …
Carol Rainbow continues to contribute curriculum news and
reviews to our website (www.123ICT.co.uk) on a freelance
basis and you can keep up to date by following @123ICT on
Twitter. The latest curriculum posts are also featured on page
2 of this newsletter. Nick S
123 technical update …
1. Staff Office365 Email Accounts – After some teething
problems during Term 1, Office365 email is now settling
down in schools. Our two pieces of advice: do not attempt
to change your complex password at the moment and
access your webmail via: http://mail.office365.com. Bill
2. iPads v Android – The price difference between Android
and iPad devices can be huge and some schools have
opted for the cheaper alternative. Now they have the
devices, they find the lack of apps frustrating and
technically it takes me a long time to add apps to the
Android devices. On the plus side, the camera, web
browser and maps all work well and the build quality is
excellent. Speak to your consultant for advice. Stephen
3. iOS7 - Apple brought out this free update in September.
123ICT consultants have been busy testing its new
features / enhancements and would recommend that you
look to update your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. Phil
Digital Learning Seminars
This term saw the launch of our digital learning seminars in
partnership with Oxford Brookes. The October session on E-
Safety was well attended and the feedback we received from
teachers was very positive. Alison has collated the notes and
website links from the seminar and this information can be
found on pages 3 and 4 of this newsletter. Please note
November’s Digital Learning Seminar on the new Computing
Curriculum is now fully booked but we look forward to seeing
you at future seminars during the year. Charlie

123ICT E-Safety (Online) workshops The internet is a fantastic teaching resource. As schools look to embrace the information age we live in, Ofsted and the
new computing curriculum have highlighted the need for schools to make teachers, children and parents aware of E-
safety and cyber-bullying.
As we also feel this is an incredibly important issue for today’s children, 123ICT are now offering a range of E-Safety
courses to Oxfordshire schools:
Staff Meeting Workshops (Duration: 1.5 hours)
These courses would typically take place during a regular staff meeting. During these sessions we would give
an overview of the risks of the internet and how schools should respond to these risks.
Charge: Free if booked as one of the 123ICT school’s complimentary staff meeting slots.
Certified ‘Think You Know’ Staff Training (Duration: 3 hours)
This more formal staff training course will be a lot more in-depth, covering all the key areas necessary for your
school to receive CEOP certification.
Charge: £200
Full Day Comprehensive On-Line Safety Staff Training (Duration: 1 day)
In addition to the ‘Think You Know’ training this comprehensive training will also focus on other aspects of
safe-guarding e.g. cyber bullying and virus protection. This course would be ideal for an inset-day.
Charge: £400
Pupil Workshop (Duration: 1 hour for each workshop each booked in half day slots)
These can be performed in a classroom or assembly setting. These courses will be age appropriate so we
would recommend they are given to individual or combined year groups e.g. upper KS2, lower KS2 etc. Each
individual workshop will typically be 1 hour duration, but we would request that you make ½ day bookings,
giving time to run at least 2 workshops on one visit.
Charge: £200/half day
Parents and Carers Workshop (Duration: 1.5 hours)
These would typically be run as an evening workshop. They will cover the risks children face and how they can
be managed in a home environment. The courses are fairly hard hitting so no children will be allowed to
attend. Some schools have organised a creche in a classroom during the workshop to allow parents with
childcare issues to attend.
Charge: £100
To talk through your school’s specific requirements or make a booking , please contact Alison Richards, 123ICT Marketing Manager, via email:
[email protected]. Please note, these courses will be performed by 123ICT’s CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection) Ambassadors.
These courses are proving very popular; we therefore advise that you allow at least 6 week’s notice for a course booking.

Digital Seminars Update: Term 1
123ICT and the School of Education will be running a series of free seminars at Oxford Brookes Harcourt Hill Campus.
These seminars will be open to all Oxfordshire Primary School Teachers, ICT coordinators, School Administrators &
Business Managers, Governors, Primary PGCE and BA students. The objective of these seminars will be to share
knowledge, advice and best practice with the aim of giving the highest standard of ICT provision to our primary schools.
The focus of our first seminar on Wednesday October 2nd 2013 was On-line Safety.
The seminar was well attended and delivered by our CEOP Ambassadors Charlie Rowe and Nick Speller. For those
schools unable to attend, below are the notes and information given out to attendees:
1. Presentations:
a. Charlie’s presentation: CEOP-Presentation
b. Nick’s presentation: E-Safety-Policy-and-360-Degree-Nick-Speller

3. Follow up workshops:
If you feel your school would benefit from some ‘in-house’ training for staff, pupils or parents & carers we
have a range of courses available, please contact [email protected] for details.
4. Follow up E-Safety screensaver competition:
As part of 123ICT’s drive to make all Oxfordshire schools E-Safety aware, the first 123ICT
competition, is to design a screensaver to promote E-Safety. We hope the competition
will increase awareness of the numerous pit-falls of using the internet, thereby
encouraging and promoting good on-line practice. It should also give pupils an
opportunity to practise and improve their graphics skill
Closing date: Friday 8th November
Prizes: The winning entry will receive a brand new ACER W510 tablet kindly donated by RM. The runner up
school will receive a free 123ICT Online Safety pupil workshop.
