The 1st International Conference on Desalination and Environment: Recent Developments in Non Reverse Osmosis Desalination and Related Technologies (ICODE2011) represents a unique opportunity for academicians and affi liates of the desalination industry to meet with and talk to distinguished scientists and experts from all over the world, where they can follow up advances in the fi elds of desalination and water treatment. The aim of this meeting is to assimilate and publish the latest research in desalination, particularly thermal desalination techniques.

It is the Chair’s hope that as a result of this conference, new opportunities for scientifi c cooperation amongst national, regional and international institutes, actively involved in research work in desalination and water sciences will be created.

Conference Chairs:Professor Nidal Hilal, Centre for Water Advanced Technologies and Environmental Research (C WATER), College of Engineering, Swansea University, UK

Dr Hamda Al-Thani, Abu Dhabi Water and Electric Authority (ADWEA), Abu Dhabi, UAE

Professor Mohammed A Darwish, Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), Kuwait
