Project Proposal Details

1.1 Project summary

This project envisages the establishment of a SKYBAR restaurant and SKYPARK

recreation area in the Taylor’s University Block E Level 2 area.

Since there is no bar and recreation parks in Taylor’s University that can enhance

the lives of students, the demand for the service is very attractive

The total initial investment requirement is estimated at RM 250,000.00 of which 95%

is for building construction.

The project will create employment opportunities for 10 persons

1.2 Project description and Application

SKYBAR and SKYPARK are facilities where food, drinks, recreation and other

services are provided in an efficient, cordial and pleasant manner and style.

Operating restaurant and parks both integrated to a learning institution enhances

student life, giving them a place to hangout, release stress and strengthen social

communication.

1.3 Project Quotation

Our proposal shall apply to the areas as indicated in our enclosed summary. We have made several

design assumptions which then followed and accepted totally by the consulting engineer will make this

alternative pricing for the pre-construction works valid for use.

Quotation

Our quotation is subject to terms & conditions enclosed herewith on the following assumed

design parameters as contained in the technical paper enclosed herewith.

Price

Our price, subject to terms & conditions stated herewith, for the sub-contract works shall be as

follows:

A. Design fees RM 50,000.00

B. Construction works RM 200,000.00

SKYPARK Recreation Area [RM]

A. Design fees RM 3,000.00

2.2 Site Analysis

Our site is located at block E besides the strategic development & international

relations office. It has a great view towards the basketball court, lake and the

commercial block. Regarding about the weather. The sun will rise from the east and is

partly blocked by other blocks. In the afternoon, one of our site will not get hot easily

since the sun is located at the south. But during the evening, our site is the ideal

choice for recreational since the sun will be blocked from the west! The wind

blows from the south east to north west therefore our site is quite windy during

the day.

2. Submit pre-construction notifications to OSC All notifications are submitted via OSC. OSC will then distribute notifications to the relevant agencies such as: • Building Department (B Form - notification to start building work) • Engineering Department (B Form - notification to start earthwork) • Sewerage Certifying Agency (IWK) (PDC 6 Form - notification to start sewerage work)

3. Request final utilities inspections through OSC Under OSC 1Submission, the builder has to request for inspections via OSC. OSC will arrange and coordinate inspections and connections schedule with relevant agencies

1. TELCO connection = MYR495.00 2. Water connection = MYR 30.00 3. Fire safety inspection = MYR 111.00

4. Receive Road and Drainage Final Inspection

Once the road and drainage works has been completed, the builder will request the

Road and Drainage clearance letter from the Engineering Department of CHKL. The

builder has to submit a construction report notification and by signing form G 17, the

Engineer certifies that all works were carried out according to regulations. Form G17 will

be filed along with Form F (Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) via OSC to

the Engineering Department.

5. Obtain Road and Drainage Clearance Letter

A date for the inspection will be set-up prior to the issuance of clearance letter for the

road and drainage work

7. Receive Sewage Final Inspection

The Sewerage Certifying Agency (IWK) will carry out an inspection of the

sewerage system and issue to the builder a clearance letter for sewerage.

8. Obtain Sewage Clearance Letter

Once the inspection has been carried out, a clearance letter is issued to the

Builder. This clearance letter will allow the Engineer to issue the Certificate of

Completion and compliance (CCC).

9. Receive Fire Safety Final Inspection

Fire and Rescue Department will carry out fire safety inspection

10. Obtain Fire Safety Final Letter

Fire and Rescue Department will issue to the builder the clearance letter for fire

safety

11. Receive Water Inspection

Water Authority SYABAS will conduct an onsite inspection of the works and make

the connection to the public pipe.

12. Submit Water Test and Commissioning (T&C) Report

Water Authority SYABAS will conduct an onsite inspection of the works and make

the connection to the public pipe.

13. Obtain Water Clearance Letter

The Water Authority SYABAS will issue a clearance letter to the builder and

install the water meter at the same time for water connection.

14. Builder’s Principal Submitting Person files the Certificate of Completion

and compliance (CCC)

The Builder’s Principal Submitting Person (professional, architect) will issue

Certificate of Completion and compliance (Form F - CCC) to the Builder/Owner

and 2 copies of the CCC will be filed at the OSC for the Building Department

(JRBB) and the Board of Architects/Engineers (LAM/LJM).

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, our improved site is now much better and multipurpose. Without the team, I don’t think we could able to make it through! This site here is known for its environment and especially the weather, It would be an ideal place for all people to enjoy/studying. During the process,we learned how to reconstruct a blank site into a multipurpose and useful bar + park for all the students. We also learned how to write a report and our master plan properly.

We hope that our sky bar & park will bring lots of benefit to all the students and also our lecturers. We also would hope that they would use it wisely and enjoy their meal without walking all the way to commercial block to have a good meal. We would love to see all the students enjoy and have their new way of studying and learning inside the park.
