ICF and HCI Release New Research on Coaching in Organizations

The International Coach Federation (ICF) and Human Capital Institute (HCI) have released findings from

their latest research collaboration, Building a Coaching Culture with Millennial Leaders. The study explores

how first-time people managers and emerging leaders—many of whom are Millennials—can benefit from

partnering with a coach and receiving training on how to use coaching skills with their peers and teams.

The final report is available at Coachfederation.org/coachingculture. It is free for ICF Members and $45

USD for non-members.

2017 marks the fourth consecutive year that ICF and HCI have partnered to research coaching cultures in

organizations. The study incorporated survey responses from 670 individuals employed in organizations

around the world as human resources, learning and development, and talent management professionals;

managers and leaders; individual contributors; and internal coach practitioners. The study also

incorporated in-depth interviews with four subject matter experts from the HR and talent development

fields.

Much has been written and said about differences in working styles and values between older and

younger generations. However, for the most part, ICF and HCI researchers found more similarities than

differences across generations. When asked to describe the most effective management style, two words

respondents cited most frequently were “collaborative” and “coaching.”

Organizations who had strong coaching cultures reported that

61% of their employees are

highly engaged, compared to

53% from organizations

without strong coaching cultures

46% of respondents in

organizations with strong coaching cultures reported above-average 2016 revenue growth in relation to industry

peers, versus 39 % of

respondents from all other

organizations.

• Being a full fledged chapter member brings with it a slew of benefits over and

above the learning events and webinars in the form of enhanced visibility, in

terms of your profile on our website and participation in Corporate

workshops or pro bono coaching with NGOs, wherein we represent ICF.

continuous growth as a coach.

continuous growth as a coach

The ICF Mumbai Chapter offers two kinds of memberships. The 1st is for those who are ICF Global members and the second is for those who are NOT ICF Global members.

Annual Membership Fee – 2800/- Annual Membership Fee – 5200/-

A question is often raised about the reason for the difference in benefits of these two categories of membership. The answer is simple. Wherever ICF is being represented to the external world i.e. by way of a profile on the website, coaching opportunities in corporates or pro bono coaching in NGOs, it is mandatory for the person to be an ICF global member. However, there are many who would like to be connected to the local community of coaches, even while not being an ICF member and for them we offer the Affiliate membership.
