Procedure: 1.Cut off the top and bottom ends of the two liter bottle.2.Then, cut the remainder of the bottle in half, vertically.3.Tape the two pieces together. (should measure approximately 40 cm)4.Cut all four flaps off of the cardboard box.5.Measure 10 centimeters across the width of the box, mark your spots with a marker and draw a diameter.6.Tape the chute to the box where you drew the 10 cm diameter.7.Mark a straight line through the chute half ways horizontally.8.Place ¼ cup of goo at the top of the chute and use the timer to time the amount of time it takes to reach the mark.9.Repeat step #8, using one cup of goo.

Amounts of GooDescription: The two amounts of goo used.

Flowing GooDescription: The goo slowly going down the chute, racing against time!

Results: The larger amount of goo went faster than the smaller amount of goo. The eight ounces took one second to reach the mark, whereas the two ounces took four minutes to reach the mark.

Conclusion

Our results agreed with our hypothesis. An avalanche is caused but the mass of glaciers rather than the steepness of the hill, so that explains why the eight ounces of goo came down faster than the two ounces of goo.
