Approach to MLCHC ICD-10 Initiative

• Finalize design, content and scope

• Identify consultant group(s) to facilitate key areas

• Recruit and enroll health centers; identify teams

• Map and schedule assessment, development, training, web resources, coaching resources, project plans, tracking and monitoring progress and performance

• Continually monitor environment

• Coordinate and support monitoring of key vendors, payers, and related providers

• Leverage statewide effort at MHDC for external tests

• Support and guide internal work plans and development

Scope and Design of MLCHC ICD-10 Initiative

• Training sessions on scope and content, areas of development needed and to be tackled, and risks

• Individual CHC briefing Liaisons and Champions

• CHC Team identification and development

• Assessment of current CHC performance and capacity

• Live training sessions

• Work plan & timeline development & commitment

• At least monthly Webinars and calls

• On going coaching and check in resources

• Links to other resources and information sources

Core Process and Outcomes

• Leadership orientation, briefings and progress reports

• CHC commitment of resources across functions

• CHC commitment to meet work plan deliverables/dates

• Assess current gaps in coding use and remediate

• Identify current coding and mappings to ICD-10

• Assess individual financial risk and fixes needed

• Monitor vendors by center and centrally

• Monitor payers by center and centrally

• Develop best practice testing workflow

• Leverage external testing (MHDC)

• Train providers and others on content

• Prioritize transition by priority areas and risk

Discussion and Assessment of Interest

• Recognize layers of activities and coordination as well as layers of investment of resources

• Does a collaborative approach sound appropriate and of interest?

• Should the League be aggressive on monitoring project timelines and deliverables progress at centers? (soft notices to hazing and posting of outliers)

• Are we behind and ready to ramp up and close the gap?
