ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal Celebrated Agriculture Education Day Agriculture Education Day was jointly celebrated by ICAR - Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal and Bhopal Chapter of the Indian Society of Soil Science. Fifty students comprising 9 th to 12 th standard from different schools of Bhopal participated in the programme. A series of events was organized for students to mark the occasion. Notable among them were:- (i) Motivational talk to students by Prof. D.L.N. Rao ii) Visit to Soil museum at IISS (iii) Elocution Competition (Topic: How to integrate agriculture and rural India with Digital India? (d` f"k vkS j xz keh.k Hkkjr dks *fMftVy ba fM;k* ls dS ls lEkfUor djs ?)(iv) Quiz contest on Soil, Agriculture, Environment, Water, Natural Resources, Personalities in the field of Agriculture and Environment (as per NCERT Syllabus). Dr Rao motivated the young students with his scintillating lecture on opportunities and new avenues in agriculture.He urged the students for optingagriculture in their higher studies/profession. Prof. Sunil Kumar Gupta, Vice-Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi PradyogikiVishwavidyalaya, Bhopal was the Chief-Guest in the function who gave away the prizes to the students. In his address he inspired upon the students to work for the society and the downtrodden. He also emphasized on the need for attracting the youth and the students towards agriculture as a profession and a career. Earlier,Dr.A.K.Patra, Director of the institute welcomed all the students and dignitaries and illustrated the mandates, objectives and activities of the institute and called upon the students to study hard and join agriculture as a profession for the benefit of farming community.
