Welcome

Dear Colleagues,It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Digital Broker Scotland 2014 here at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow.

Last year our inaugural e-broking Scotland event brought a wealth of business-useful information for delegates. With the world of technology changing at a ferocious rate, this year’s refocused format will still bring you the most up-to-date technology available in the market and provide the chance to quiz the experts on how to harness the power of e-trading to grow your business. However, I’m pleased to say that in an expanded digital-themed line-up, there will also be specialist speeches on engaging with customers in the digital age as well as on the emerging risks in the cyber environment and the insurance options available for brokers and their clients.

In our panel session I look forward to debating with our experts how to fi nd a balance between modernising the broking industry and maintaining valuable traditions. It is sure to be a fascinating session and I urge you all to get involved with your questions.

All of the above are certainly hot topics for the UK economy and we believe that the package today will help you make sure that you get a competitive edge in an increasingly digitalised world.

But the learning doesn’t stop there. Our innovation forums have been purposefully created to give you access to key insurers and the opportunity to discuss the new ideas, software and capabilities they are bringing to the market. So thank you to NIG and Aviva for their support as, quite simply, without them the event would not have been possible.

And thank you also for attending. At Insurance Age we know that your time is precious and I hope that you will fi nd being here with us today will help you stay ahead of the competition.

Kind regards,

Emmanuel Kenning,editor,Insurance Age
