ABOUT US
Our institute was started in the name of donor Vishindevi Harbhagwandas Dhanoomal in the year 1961 to encourage
women to take up higher education in the field of Home Science. Now it has stretched its wings by offering various new
courses in Home science, Basic science, Computer science, Arts, Commerce and Management. The college also offers
diploma courses under the Community College and PG courses in Home Science and Sociology. All PG departments
are recognized research centers under Bangalore University.
AUTONOMOUS STATUS
our institute has autonomous status from the academic year 2015-16. It is the previlage to design and restructure the
curricular, syllabi and course as per the requirements to suit global needs and challenges.
LOCATION
College is located in the heart of the city and it is well connected by BMTC, KSRTC, Namma Metro and City Railway
Station.
INFRASTRUCTURE
The College has well equipped laboratories in all departments, Smart class rooms, auditorium, ample space for
indoor and outdoor games, well established library with e- books, e-journals, internet and Wi-Fi facility and Reading
room with many newspapers and magazines and Journals.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
For overall development of the students, the college is instrumental in providing a stage to express their talents
through cultural fests and competitions. Inter collegiate competitions In many streams,Kannada Sangha, Science
forum, Home Science forum, Social Science forum and Eco club activities provide many opportunities for the students
to show case their talents. NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides and Red cross are an integral part for inculcating discipline.
ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
Seminars, workshops, projects, industrial visits, and field work are organized to enhance the students’ knowledge.
Exhibitions and sales are also organized to develop entrepreneurial skills among students.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
State and Central Government scholarship, endowment scholarship, cash awards, NGO’s and faculty funded
Suvidha Nidhi meets the financial needs of deserving students.
FACILITIES FOR STUDENTS
· College Hostel facility for students from far off places, also BCM, SC/ST, community Hostel facility
· Canteen and portable drinking water facility in the campus.
· College campus has a lawn, fountain and good vegetation thereby providing a natural healthy atmosphere.
· Health Unit to meet students health needs and dietetics consultancy to offer education on healthy food habits.
· Counseling cell - Dr. C R. Chandrashekar, visiting counsellor to address students grievances.
· Remedial and coaching classes for weak students.
· Parent teachers meeting to establish cordial relationship and easy access with parents.
· Student welfare officer and mentors to maintain all records of individual students.
· Anti ragging cell, gender sensitization cell, sexual harassment cell make the students stay in the college comfortable.
· Grievance cell provides a suggestion box for students to express their views safely and confidentially.
· Personality development classes for fine tuning of the students before leaving campus. Coaching classes for competitive Exams like IAS, KAS and Bank exams.

ADMISSIONS OPEN FOR POST GRADUATE DEGREE COURSESADMISSIONS OPEN FOR POST GRADUATE DEGREE COURSES
Graduates who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and
optional subjects are eligible. First preference will be given to students who have
studied Home Science at the graduate level. Students from Non-Home Science
background are required to complete a Foundation course in the First Semester
along with the regular courses of the First Semester. However, this does not apply
to students who have studied Psychology, Sociology. Women Studies, genetics as
one of the optional subjects at the undergraduate level.
Graduates who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and
optional subjects are eligible. First preference will be given to students who have
studied Home Science at the undergraduate level. Non-Home Science background
students are required to complete a Foundation course in the First Semester along
with the regular courses in the First Semester.
Graduates who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of all
subjects are eligible in the following order of priority: Graduates in a) Nutrition and
Dietetics, b) Composite Home Science/ Rural Home Science, c) Food Science and
Nutrition, d) Science with Home Science as one of the optional subject,
e) Ayurvedic Medicine, Homeopathy and Naturopathy, and f) Nursing.
B.Sc. graduates with integrated / Composite Home Science / B.Sc. with Home
Science as one optional / Home Science and Chemistry / Wet Processing / Fashion
and Apparel Design securing 50% marks in the aggregate and optional are eligible.
Graduates of any discipline who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the
aggregate and optinal subjects are eligible. First preference will be given to
students who have studied Home Science at the Undergraduate level. Non-Home
Science background students are required to complete a Foundation course in the
First Semester along with the regular courses of the First Semester.

Graduates from any discipline who have secured at least 50% marks in the
aggregate of all subjects (including languages) are eligible. Three seats are
earmarked for professionals sponsored by recognized institutions in the field of
Early Child Care/Education and International students. Students from non-Home
Science, Non-education and non-psychology background are required to complete
a foundation course in the first semester along with the regular course of the first
semester.
Candidates who have secured 50% marks in the aggregate of all subjects and 50%
marks in the cognate subject at the Bachelor’s degree level.

a) Graduate from a recognised University in India having studied in regular courses of any discipline having secured minimum of 50% at the undergraduate level (including languages).
b) First preference will be given to Graduates who have done B. Sc Composite
Home Science/ B.Sc. Interior Design and B.Sc./BA with Home Science as one
optional subject.
c) Second preference will be given to Graduates from any discipline with a
diploma in Interior Design/Decoration.
Students from non Resource Management background are required to take a
Foundation course in Interior Design and Decoration in the first semester and
an exam at the end of the semester.
