電輝放電數字顯示器

電輝放電數字顯示器原理如同Sputtering,開始放電之電壓約180V,維持電壓約145V,比家庭用電約100V稍高;一般封入Ne及Ar混合氣體,發光顏色呈橙紅色,利用Ne及Ar混合氣體受電激發解離成Ne+及Ar+電漿氣體,帶正電的Ne+及Ar+離子將被負極吸引而撞擊在負極上,過程會放出所謂二次電子,負極在受帶正電的Ne+ 及Ar+離子的不斷撞擊下,將造成損耗而減短壽命,一般會填充Hg蒸汽,雖然亮度會減弱,但使用壽命卻能大大提升,超過十萬小時。

VFD是用於小型顯示器(小於5”的尺寸),提供其明亮的對比。VFD的優點包有較高的亮度,較寬的視角,較寬的操作溫度範圍,以及較低的成本。舉例來說,一般使用LED(Light Emit Diode)的顯示器可擁有較高的亮度,但是,大部份只用在顯示數字,並非是顯示字元。對於大部份使用背光源的TFT-LCD(Thin Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display)來說,它可以顯示所有的圖案,但是,它的對比及亮度,相對就比較低。以在數位、字元及圖案顯示上的完美效果來說,VFD相對於LED及TFT-LCD,是比較好的選擇。VFD三個基本電極所組成的,陰極(細絲)、陽極(磷光體)以及在高真空玻璃底下的極板所構成。陰極包括了鍍上鹼性氧化金屬(氧化鋇、氧化鍶、氧化鈣)的鎢絲線來當射極。而極板是一層薄膜金屬網,用來控制及擴散陰極發射的電荷。陽極為一已經印刷有磷光體來顯示字元、圖像、及符號的導體電極,從陰極發射的電荷經由極板及陽極正電位的加速,碰撞上陽極的磷光體而激發出光,而這發光圖案的要求可藉由極板及陽極來控制正極或負極被達成。而操作的電壓可低於5VDC。以細絲為動力所產生的熱以及被極板網柵

螢光 (Luminescence)

螢光﹐也稱冷光 (Luminescence)﹐為螢光材料在吸收能量後造成電子能階變動﹐低能階電子在被激發到高能階位置後﹐因不穩定而跳回較低能階位置時﹐釋放出來的能量的光。

E hν=常見的螢光物質就是日光燈中的螢光物,它們把日光燈中汞蒸氣發出的紫外光轉換成人的肉眼可看得到的可見光。通常是把 中加入一些含錳(Ⅱ)和銻 (Ⅲ)的成份。

洗衣粉中常見的螢光增白劑則是吸收太陽光中的紫外線後會放出藍色光的物質。因為衣物通常會帶黃色,混入藍色後會使得衣服看起來較白。

磷光 (Phosphorescence)

有些物質在移走光源的情形下還可以自行發光一段時間,此類物質稱為磷光物質。換句話說,螢光物質一定要有其它光源照射才會發光,磷光物質發光時則不必一直用光源照射。

夜光書內的物體會發光就是裡面混入了磷光物質,所以即使在暗處也會發光。另外像腳踏車上所貼的反光紙,裡面則是螢光物質,因為只有被車燈照著時,才會發光。

螢光與磷光 能階跳躍-雷射原理

結論

VFD顯示器的概念為數位化的CRT,透過每一亮點都有特定電極釋放電子來激發的概念完成,也就是場發射顯示器(FED)的概念,缺點為解析度較差,優點則可透過多塊組合的方式製成大面板,技術開發層級較FED略低。
