Campus Information on the main page. Once your enlistment is verified, then you will be given a

red, white, and blue honor cord to wear at graduation. In addition, you will be recognized at the

Awards Ceremony. If you have any questions please see your counselor.

Students if you are between the ages of 13 and 17, NASA is looking for volunteers for their

Summer Teen Volunteer Program. Anyone interested must apply online at

www.spacenter.org/volunteer. NASA will be accepting applications until March 9th.

Calling all Seniors! Project Graduation for the Class of 2020 is on! For those who do not know

what Project Graduation is, it is a post-graduation party for our senor Rail Cat’s that will be held

at the Pearland Recreation Center on May 22nd from 11PM - 5AM! It is a one last time celebration

of fun, food, and games with fellow classmates before making new chapters. Seniors are asked to

sell a minimum of 5 raffle tickets for entry, which will begin after Spring Break. There are some

great raffle prizes this year to be won in a drawing that same night for some lucky ticket buyers.

Seniors can also win “Whataburger for a Year” for whoever sells the most raffle tickets and turns

them in by May 15th. For more details come see Project Grad in the cafeteria after Spring Break!

We are now accepting applications for Yearbook. If you are interested in joining Yearbook next

year for the 2020-2021 school year, please go to Mrs. Maulding’s website. Click on the Yearbook

scholarship opportunities. If you have any questions please see Ms. Patel in the counseling office. Attention 9th, 10th and 11th graders! College Now Scholarships have been uploaded to the THS

website. You can find it under “Our School” then click on Counselors; you should see a tab that

says “College Now Scholarships”. Please read all the information carefully. NO handwritten

resume will be allowed. You may use the computers in the library, and if you need assistance

please refer to Ms. Herrington. The scholarships can be turned into Ms. Patel or Mrs. Mosqueda in

Turner High School would like to say Congratulations! To Two of Pearland’s POSSE Foundation

Finalists who were selected as Scholars! Dulce Aleman has been selected as a member of

Wellesley College Posse 4, and Sara Estrada was selected for Texas A&M Posse 8 – both from

Turner CCHS. These students were recognize last week as the 2020 selected POSSE Scholars

Awards Ceremony. Their selection to the program means that they will have all tuition paid for

each of these respective Universities. Congratulations to both of these outstanding students, Dulce

Aleman and Sara Estrada.

This past weekend the Area H Band Auditions took place and one of our students was selected for

the Texas All-State Band, this is a huge accomplishment and places this student among the top 3%

of all Texas band students. Please join us in Congratulating Katelyn Nguyen for this great honor.

Congratulations! To Joseluis De La Garza’s Reflections entry, Nature’s Path, he has advanced to

state level judging! This is a wonderful achievement as nearly 60,000 students participate in the

program annually and less than 3% of those advance to Texas PTA. Final results will be

announced on March 15. Congratulations again to Joseluis De La Garza on advancing to Texas

PTA. Help us congratulate him for a job well done and let’s wish him well at State Competition!

Therefore, if you have an off period in the morning, you still need to be here at 7:15 a.m. Failure

to be here on time will result in additional charges for tests you are taking or missing the bus to the

food service project. Food service project students will meet in Gym A at 7:15 a.m. Permission

slips are due in the counseling office. No permission slips means you cannot go on the field trip,

and you will be sent to a testing room. If you are taking the TSI or SAT you can bring a snack and

bottled water, but you will only be allowed to eat/drink during the designated snack times. TSI,

On October 16, 9th-11th grade students will be taking the PSAT. Seniors, you will have a choice in which activity you can participate. You can take the SAT without the essay free, the SAT with essay for $64.50, TSI test for $39 or $15 for separate sections, ASVAB, or participate in a service project at the Houston Food Bank. September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Suicide is a national health problem that currently ranks as the second leading cause of death for ages 10-24. Take time this month to learn of ways to support others who are struggling. You can start with our district’s initiative: Ask about suicide. Seek more information. Know where and how to refer.

The Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy will be starting next week. The Kickoff Meeting will be Tuesday, September 10 in Mr. Riggs Room 1628 in C-Hallway from 2:40pm – 4:30pm. For any questions regarding the event or the club, please see Mr. Riggs or Ms. Livingston.

Students in DC classes will need to take their picture during lunchtime on one of these dates.

On October 16, 9th-11th grade students will be taking the PSAT. Seniors, you will have a choice in

which activity you can participate. You can take the SAT without the essay free, the SAT with

essay for $64.50, TSI test for $39 or $15 for separate sections, ASVAB, or participate in a service

project at the Houston Food Bank. You need to register for your choice. The link to the form has

been sent to your Skyward OR you can find it on the school website. The registration form closes

September 27. Once a choice has reached the maximum number of students who can have that

option, the option will be deleted from the form, so fill it out as soon as possible.

Skills USA will host a membership kickoff meeting at the start of Mega Lunch on Tuesday, 9/10.
