Any number of teams have the personnel to go all the way . You can be sure that the reg10nals and sectionals will he well contested .

And speaking of the regionals and sectionals, the proposed pairings and alignments for 1983 are shown in this Newsletter. NWBA OFFICIALS QUALIFY FOR INTERNATIONAL

The Pan Am Wheelchair Games held in Halifax, Nova Scotia in August afforded an opportunity for two NWBA officials to be licenced for international wheelchair basketball competition. Paul Camitsch of St. Paul, Minnesota and Wayne Gossage of Florissant, Missouri, both veterans of NWBT and NWWBT officiating, were awarded certificates entitling them to officiate in championship competitions coming under the jurisdiction of the Basketball Section of the International Stoke Mandeville Games Federation. We congratulate them on earning this distinctive honor.

Both officials passed the rigorous test of handling no fewer than six international matches under the close scrutiny of a panel of examiners which included NWBA-approbated officials AI Orr of Tampa, Florida and Ben Harnish of Winnipeg, Manitoba . The examiners had received their licences previously by undergoing examination at the Stoke Mandeville Games in Aylesbury, England.

Altogether, three individuals - Orr, Camitsch and Gossage - are the only U.S. officials eligible to officiate the games of two international championships to be held on this continent in the next two years : the Gold Cup (World Championship) tentatively scheduled for Halifax in May, 1983, and the Paralympic Games to be held at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in June, 1984 . Otherwise, the additional officials required for those competitions will be drawn from the roster of eligible persons from other countries. It is not a desirable situation for us but simply the way things have worked out under the current international system of licencing referees . We are working to alter that situation and to broaden the opportunities available for international accreditation .

MID-YEAR MEETING OF NWBA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The NWBA Executive Committee will hold its mid-year meeting in Chicago, Illinois on December 10 and 11 . The long agenda will include an extensive analysis of fiscal operations and the projected need for an increase in annual membership fees .
