MMeessssaaggee ffrroomm tthhee PPrreessiiddeenntt && tthhee EExxeeccuuttiivvee DDiirreeccttoorr As we aempt to recollect the acvies of the past twelve months, we realize that so much has changed. The pandemic that we have all managed to deal with has altered not only our individual lives but our way of life across the world. In March 2020, those services that were deemed essenal to people’s lives were dened. The supports offered by Tri‐Valley, Inc. certainly fell into the category of essenal—and in most cases, crical—to the health and well‐being of the elders and people with disabilies that ulize our programs. While changes were made to our systems of operaon to ensure the safety of both our consumers and our employees, we never closed our doors. Meals on Wheels deliveries not only connued but met the needs of more people who were struggling with food insecurity due to the lack of supplies, quaranne restricons and a fear of leaving home. We worked closely with our provider partners to ensure that personal care needs connued to be priorized, and that necessary PPE was avail‐able to prevent the spread of the virus. Technology upgrades were implemented to allow for new ways of communicaon and remote work, as upgrades and safety precauons were put in place within the building itself. It’s funny to think that in January 2020 we had a handful of employees pilong a “Work At Home” model to see how it would go—and by mid‐March, 75% of our employees were working remotely! While the effects of COVID‐19 connue to impact all of us, we are certain that our efforts have prepared Tri‐Valley for whatever the future may hold. We have proven our resiliency and our ability to quickly change course and are proud of all that has been accomplished in the past year. We know that future challenges will be met head‐on and successfully managed to allow our essenal work to connue. Thank you for your ongoing support of Tri‐Valley, Inc.

SSuuppppoorrtt oouurr SSoocciieettyy In the fall of 2019, Tri‐Valley, Inc. launched a new volunteer iniave, SOS (Supporng Our Society). SOS was designed to assist
community members aged 60 and over or younger people with disabilies with projects not tradionally provided through home‐based services such as: seasonal clean‐up/yardwork, minor repairs/painng, guer cleaning, wood stacking and window washing/light housekeeping.
The inial SOS event was held in the towns of Webster, Dudley and Oxford. Sixteen volunteers comprised of Tri‐Valley staff/family members and a local contractor, assisted 18 households where the occupants had lile or no supports to help them with chores to improve their home environment. One of the volunteers, Chad Whitcomb, who cleared limbs off a roof and cleaned guers at the home of an elderly woman said, “she was happy and had tears … that’s what counts to me—to let her know people sll care.” Leo, whose home was overgrown with shrubs and vines, said, “I’m ecstac, relieved from this big burden … don’t know what else we would have done.” Aer another yard was cleared of leaves and debris, an elderly woman said, “Most wonderful thing in the whole world, and it is free!” Others who had window washing and minor repairs done expressed thanks with tearful eyes and grateful smiles.

Then came Haircuts for the Holidays with the coordinated volunteer efforts of four area hair‐dressers who provided free haircuts to seniors who were unable to access a salon or barber. It doesn’t maer what age you are, a new haircut can make you feel wonderful—Rolande of Webster was thrilled and delighted with her new look aer she received a cut and set from Donna of Private Designs in Oxford. Clippin Tymes in Webster, Hair Mania in Franklin, Three Sisters Salon in Bellingham and Webster’s Choice Barber also donated their me and services.
In March, COVID‐19 restricons brought changes to planned springme cleanup acvies involv‐ing community groups and local volunteers. Challenged to do something special for our home‐

Meant to li spirits, and just in me for Mother’s Day, the project was conducted as part of our SOS volunteer iniave. Volunteers and employees delivered the plants that included toma‐to, leuce, eggplant, pepper, basil and parsley. An upliing poem and plant instrucons were included in the delivery that was a delighul surprise and brought a lile bit of sunshine to those who needed it most!
