General Information: On the morning of 13 January 1774 the negralibre Martha died intestate and with no heirs except one sonnamed Pedro, a slave who belonged to the Reverend Father Bernabe,Capuchin priest of the German Coast. She had some goods andfurniture and a house in New Orleans. These were sold at publicauction, the proceeds going to her creditors and, what remained,to her son.
