A native of eastern Nevada, Jacqueline “Jackie” Klaich was married to Dr. George Klaich, a partner in Klaich Animal Hospital. They were married for 37 years and raised their four children in Reno.

Jackie was well known for her open and unconditional friendliness, free from skepticism or judgment. She was a person who sought—and found—the inherent goodness in everyone.

Little children were especially quick to recognize this quality.

Jackie’s open door—and her willingness to tickle, tease and tell stories—captivated the children who lived nearby and made her home an irresistible, after-school gathering place. Her fun-loving spirit, warmth and encouragement attracted not only the neighboring children, but everyone who knew her, too.

In Jackie Klaich’s honor, her children have sponsored the breakfast today.

This year, our chapter will grant more than 260 amazing wishes for northeastern California and northern Nevada children. For each wish to become a reality, it takes dedicated volunteers, in-kind donations and the generosity of people like you. Will you join us in making the impossible happen for a special wish child?

Your gift of $5,000 Grants the wish of a child to visit a special theme park, bring a new puppy into their family, have a complete room make-over or enjoy a shopping spree experience!

Your gift of $10,000 Can take a child to a land far-away! Wish children may choose to swim with the dolphins in Hawaii, travel to Europe to visit places only seen in text books or have the freedom to visit a swimming pool in their own backyard.

The Adopt-A-Wish® program was created to give our caring community the chance to play a significant and very personal role in the granting of a wish. Make-A-Wish® Northeastern CA & Northern Nevada facts:

• While Make-A-Wish is a nationally recognized brand, all funds raised and donated to our chapter help grant wishes to children within our 37 county territories. 100% of the funding given within the Northern Nevada region stays local and benefits children within the local community.

• Funding: Less than 5% of funds received are used for administrative overhead.

• We have granted more than 5,000 wishes in our chapter since we formed in 1983. We grant more than 265 wishes each year, roughly one every business day. However, our chapter has more than 400 children who are awaiting their wishes.

• Within Northern Nevada alone, we granted over 30 wishes last year, and have 75 children from the community who qualify to have their wish granted this year.

• The entire family, not just the wish child, is impacted by dealing with a family member with a life-threatening medical condition. The entire family dynamic shifts and the wish provides a sense of hope and excitement for all after going through a life-altering health diagnosis. Your support gives hope to not just the wish child, but the entire family.
