ExtractIn order to provide the correct level of operator protection it is essentialthat a Fume Cupboard is connected to a suitable Fume Extract system.The type and size of fan together with a well designed duct route areessential to ensure a balanced installation. CLI have experts available toadvise you and to design a system appropriate for your needs.

A full range of Fume Hoods can be provided to extract from single itemsof equipment such as an AAS machine or larger hoods over a number ofOvens for example. These Hoods or Canopies can be made in any sizefrom PVC, stainless or galvanised steel as necessary to suit the intendedpurpose. Again the necessary extract plant will be designed to suit theequipment and location.

Our Fume Cupboards and Hoods are well designed with only thehighest quality materials and craftsmanship used. Site installation andcommissioning is carried out by our experienced team of engineers.

The examples shown on this catalogue page are typical layouts and arethose commonly used for single unit installations.

NedermanThe ‘Nederman Extractor Kit’ is a small point ofwork hood which can be useful where low riskwork is carried out on the bench. Further detailscan be provided on request.

CANTILEVER SYSTEM

A traditional fixed pedestal construction where the benchtop is mounted directly onto the base units.This is intended to be a “fitted” system using infill panels to close any unused spaces.Underbench units have a nominal carcase height is 762mm mounted on a 127mm high hardwood plinth. The working height isnominally 905mm.

Our cantilever system allows the worktop to be mounted independently of the base units on tubular steel support frames(as illustrated). The removeable underbench units have a carcase height of 762mm fitted with a reduced height hardwoodplinth of 51mm. The working height is maintained at a nominal 905mm allowing a mixture of pedestal and cantileverconstruction types in the same Laboratory.

Our comprehensive ‘Standard’ Fume Cupboard range embodies the most advanced design features available and complieswith the latest recommendations of British Standard 7258. With four standard sizes, the option of special widths and manydifferent service outlets, this range can be adapted to suit most modern laboratory needs.

ConstructionThe unit incorporates a double skin chamber with an outer skin, formed to produce an aerofoil profile, of zinc coated mildsteel which is epoxy powder coated. A stainless steel cill and a frameless 6mm thick toughened glass sash with handle com-plete the aerodynamically designed opening. As standard we provide solid laminate internal lining panels and baffles with adished cast epoxy resin workbase to retain any spillage. Alternative materials such as polypropylene, stainless steel or PVClinings can be provided to suit particular applications.

Control and Alarm PanelA safety monitor and control panel is provided to include the following functions, all as recommended; Fan ON and Fan OFFpush buttons, Fan running indicator, Analogue display of airflow, Loss of airflow alarm (audible & visual), Air safe indicator,Sash high alarm (audible & visual), Sash safe indicator. The audible alarms can be muted for a preset length of time to allowfor loading of the fume cupboard.

Support SystemAll standard units are mounted on epoxy coated metal leg frames which can accommodate floor standing chemical storageunits. These lockable cabinets can be supplied to suit Acid or Flammable Liquids and can be vented through the fumecupboard extraction system.

MODULAR SUSPENDED SYSTEM

Rigid ‘A’ Frames, interlinked with span rails, support the benchtop independently of the base units. Reduced height units,nominally 610mm high, can be located within the span between the ‘A’ Frames held from underneath on the span rails 200mmabove floor level. The working height is nominally 905mm. As an alternative the ‘A’ frame support system can be adapted touse the full height ‘Cantilever’ type removeable underbench unit.

Self supporting ‘C’ frames interlinked with span rails provide support to the benchtop and the underbench units are thensuspended from a hanging track located underneath. This system gives the option of having these 610mm high units mountedin a fixed position or able to traverse the bench length. The optional central support core provides the facility to mount avariety of overbench storage options. The working height is nominally 905mm.

Our ‘Schools Model’ Fume Cupboard conforms to the recommendations of the Department of Education andScience Design note 29, which incorporates the results of an investigation by the development group of CLEAPSS into theperformance of fume cupboards currently found in schools.With containment very much in mind this unit conforms to the performance as recommended in BS7258. Care has been takenin the cupboard design to ensure it does not depend only on face velocity but on other factors as well.In this respect the unit is fitted with a back baffle as a means of reducing the dependence of air-flow on sashposition. A main by-pass to reduce high velocity at minimum sash opening is fitted at high level.This unit has been successfully used for many light duty Industrial applications.

ConstructionThe external construction is a laminated board 22mm thick with mechanical joints to roof and base (veneered finish aspictured is available if required). The sash is a counterbalanced, frameless, vertical sliding sheet of 6mm thick toughened glassfitted with stainless steel wires to give a failsafe system. A minimum and maximum sash opening stop is incorporated toensure correct use of the cupboard for optimum performance. Sides are fitted with 6mm thick toughened glass panels toprotect and give extra clear visibility for teachers and students. The internal linings are fabricated from 6mm solid laminatewith a 13mm working base of the same material with bunded edges. All joints are fully sealed with mastic. A fluorescent striplight is mounted over a glazed panel in the chamber to improve visibility.

IROKOA solid hardwood material 28mm thick and oiled as standard, exposed edges are rounded at the top and throated underneath. A highly durablematerial suitable for chemical laboratories with a maximum jointless length of 3 metres.

TRESPA “ATHLON”A solid resin panel with a melamine resin surface providing good chemical, scratch and wear resistance. Particularly suited for physics andgeological laboratories, available in a range of colours, speckles and patterns. The maximum jointless length is 3 metres.

TRESPA “TOPLAB plus”A solid resin panel available in plain or speckle colours on a surface which provides high stain and chemical resistance combined with excellentwear and scratch resistance. Suitable for most laboratory applications and has a maximum jointless length of 3 metres.

EPOXY RESINOne of the most suitable laboratory surfaces. It is both heat and shock resistant as well as being impervious to liquids. A stable flat surface asstandard which can be fitted with a seamless lip to contain spillage. Sinks and drip cups can be fitted with seam free joints.

SOLID SURFACE MATERIAL“Corian” or “Surell” are often described as synthetic stone, they are non-porous, durable and repairable so provide a surface which is suitablefor use with most chemicals. Joints are invisible and impervious so working surfaces are ideally suited to clinically clean areas.

TILESRed, acid resistant tiles have excellent resistance to chemicals and solvent attack, staining and heat. Fitted to a plywood base with epoxyadhesive and grout the are suitable for wash up or acidic areas.

STAINLESS STEEL.Made to measure AISI 316 grade stainless steel worktops are bonded to a plywood or MDF sub-base and have all joints fully welded. Thisforms an impermeable worksurface which is therfore suitable for both microbiological and radioactive work.

MODULAR SUSPENDED SYSTEM

Rigid ‘A’ Frames, interlinked with span rails, support the benchtop independently of the base units. Reduced height units,nominally 610mm high, can be located within the span between the ‘A’ Frames held from underneath on the span rails 200mmabove floor level. The working height is nominally 905mm. As an alternative the ‘A’ frame support system can be adapted touse the full height ‘Cantilever’ type removeable underbench unit.

Self supporting ‘C’ frames interlinked with span rails provide support to the benchtop and the underbench units are thensuspended from a hanging track located underneath. This system gives the option of having these 610mm high units mountedin a fixed position or able to traverse the bench length. The optional central support core provides the facility to mount avariety of overbench storage options. The working height is nominally 905mm.

CANTILEVER SYSTEM

A traditional fixed pedestal construction where the benchtop is mounted directly onto the base units.This is intended to be a “fitted” system using infill panels to close any unused spaces.Underbench units have a nominal carcase height is 762mm mounted on a 127mm high hardwood plinth. The working height isnominally 905mm.

Our cantilever system allows the worktop to be mounted independently of the base units on tubular steel support frames(as illustrated). The removeable underbench units have a carcase height of 762mm fitted with a reduced height hardwoodplinth of 51mm. The working height is maintained at a nominal 905mm allowing a mixture of pedestal and cantileverconstruction types in the same Laboratory.

Our comprehensive ‘Standard’ Fume Cupboard range embodies the most advanced design features available and complieswith the latest recommendations of British Standard 7258. With four standard sizes, the option of special widths and manydifferent service outlets, this range can be adapted to suit most modern laboratory needs.

ConstructionThe unit incorporates a double skin chamber with an outer skin, formed to produce an aerofoil profile, of zinc coated mildsteel which is epoxy powder coated. A stainless steel cill and a frameless 6mm thick toughened glass sash with handle com-plete the aerodynamically designed opening. As standard we provide solid laminate internal lining panels and baffles with adished cast epoxy resin workbase to retain any spillage. Alternative materials such as polypropylene, stainless steel or PVClinings can be provided to suit particular applications.

Control and Alarm PanelA safety monitor and control panel is provided to include the following functions, all as recommended; Fan ON and Fan OFFpush buttons, Fan running indicator, Analogue display of airflow, Loss of airflow alarm (audible & visual), Air safe indicator,Sash high alarm (audible & visual), Sash safe indicator. The audible alarms can be muted for a preset length of time to allowfor loading of the fume cupboard.

Support SystemAll standard units are mounted on epoxy coated metal leg frames which can accommodate floor standing chemical storageunits. These lockable cabinets can be supplied to suit Acid or Flammable Liquids and can be vented through the fumecupboard extraction system.

ServicesThe service outlets fitted as standard are:-1 - Water outlet.1 - Gas outlet.1 - Vulcathene drip cup.1 - Twin 13amp switched socket.

ExtractIn order to provide the correct level of operator protection it is essentialthat a Fume Cupboard is connected to a suitable Fume Extract system.The type and size of fan together with a well designed duct route areessential to ensure a balanced installation. CLI have experts available toadvise you and to design a system appropriate for your needs.

A full range of Fume Hoods can be provided to extract from single itemsof equipment such as an AAS machine or larger hoods over a number ofOvens for example. These Hoods or Canopies can be made in any sizefrom PVC, stainless or galvanised steel as necessary to suit the intendedpurpose. Again the necessary extract plant will be designed to suit theequipment and location.

Our Fume Cupboards and Hoods are well designed with only thehighest quality materials and craftsmanship used. Site installation andcommissioning is carried out by our experienced team of engineers.

The examples shown on this catalogue page are typical layouts and arethose commonly used for single unit installations.

NedermanThe ‘Nederman Extractor Kit’ is a small point ofwork hood which can be useful where low riskwork is carried out on the bench. Further detailscan be provided on request.
