    About the College

    The International conference on

    Green Computing, Communication and

    Conservation of Energy ICGCE-2013 aims

    to bring researchers, scientists, engineers

and scholar students together to exchange

and share their experiences, new ideas, and

the research outcome of all possible aspects

    of Green Computing, Communication and

Conservation of Energy; and to discuss the

    practical challenges encountered, and the

    solutions.

Green computing or green IT, refers to

environmentally sustainable computing or IT.As computing becomes increasingly pervasive,

    the energy consumption attributable to

computing is increasing, despite the clarion call

to action to reduce consumption and reverse

greenhouse effect The aim green computing

is to reduce the use of hazardous materials,

    maximize energy efciency during the

products lifetime, and promote the recyclability

or biodegradability of defunct products and

factory waste. Research continues into key

areas such as making the use of computers

as energy-efcient as possible, and designing

    algorithms and systems for efciency-related

    computer technologies. The mobile industry

is seen as a potential enabler to reduce

greenhouse gases. To meet the requirement

of low-carbon economy development, it is

necessary to reduce the operation expenditure

or energy consumption of mobile networks,

while maintaining acceptable quality of service.

In this regard, the conference aims to establish

a forum to bring together research professionals

from diverse elds including green mobile

    networks, system architectures, networking &

    communication protocols, applications, test-

bed and prototype, trafc balance and energy-

    efcient cooperation transmission, system and

    application issues.

    Replacing the classical energy with

alternative green energy, such as bio-energy,

solar energy and promoting use of clean

energy, and that way, polluting emissions to the

air will be reduced. Bio-energy is renewable

energy derived from biological sources, to be

used for heat, electricity, or vehicle fuel. Bio-

fuel derived from plant materials is among

the most rapidly growing renewable energy

    technologies. Photovoltaic technology makes

use of the energy in the sun, and it has little

impact on the environment. Photovoltaics can

be used in a wide range of products, fromsmall consumer items to large commercial

solar electric systems. This conference brings

together the challenging technical aspects for

    supporting and producing renewable energy

with less or no impact on the ecosystems.

We solicit both academic, research, and

    industrial contributions. We welcome technical

    papers presenting research and practical

results, position papers addressing the pros

and cons of specic proposals, such as those

being discussed in the standard fora or in

    industry consortia, survey papers addressing

the key problems and solutions on any of the

above topics short papers on work in progress,

    and panel proposals.

    BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARD

A Best Student Paper award will be

presented at the conference. For eligibility

criteria and related details visit the

    conference website. The nominations will

be evaluated by the ICGCE 2013 Awards

Committee and fnalists will be notifed by

email. The winners will be awarded during

the ICGCE 2013 Valedictory Function on

    December 14, 2013.

    3/7

Original contributions based on the results of research and developments are solicited on the

wide range of topics listed below. Prospective authors are requested to submit their papers in not

more than 6 pages, prepared in the two-column IEEE format. The paper should contain the e-mail

addresses, postal addresses and afliations of the author(s). All accepted papers in compliance

with IEEE standards will be published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library with indexing, provided at

least one of the authors registers for the conference.

    TRACK-1: GREEN COMPUTING

Green Computing is nowadays one of the major challenges for most IT organizations that involve

medium and large scale distributed infrastructures like Grids, Clouds and Clusters. Green computing

is the environmentally responsible use of computers and related resources. Such practices include

the implementation of energy-efcient CPUs ,servers and peripherals as well as reduced resource

consumption and proper disposal of electronic waste. Topics of interest include, but are not limited

    to, Sustainable Computing

Algorithms and Models Facilitating Green Computing and Networking

    Cyber Infrastructure and Security

Energy-aware resource allocation and scheduling mechanisms

    TRACK-2 : GREEN IT SOLUTIONS

The focus we take is on the role of information systems and technologies in enabling Smart IT

solutions for green applications. Research topics from more abstract ones, such as conceptual

IT models on how areas could optimize energy consumption, to more technical ones to topics that

touch upon usage of IT solutions in pushing for greener real-life p rocesses. Topics of interest include,

    but are not limited to

Green software engineering Methodologies and Tools

TRACK-3 : GREEN COMMUNICATIONS AND NETWORKING

Telecommunications applications can have a direct, tangible impact on lowering greenhouse gas

emissions, power consumption, and achieve efcient recycling of equipment waste. Moreover,

to nd radio networking solutions that can greatly improve energy-efciency as well as resource-

efciency (Green Communications) is not only benecial for the global environment but also makes

commercial sense for telecommunication operators supporting sustainable and protable business.
