What came first, the chicken or the egg? Some months have 31 days, some have
30 days. Which month has 28 days? There was a man born in1925, he lived
to be 80, and died in 1926. How is this possible?

In English class, there are times when students don’t have the answer, no time to talk or feel to shy to speak in front of the class.
One method to help communication is THINK-PAIR-SHARE

Teacher asks a question.
Students then pair up and discuss the question and their ideas.
PairStudents are then given time to think quietly about the question.

After pairs have discussed, then the pairs will share their thoughts in a big group. Share

T-P-S Practice You can use a variety of different
material for think, pair, share. Questions, photos, videos, reading, etc…
Keep time and encourage sharing with quieter students.

Things to remember Not important for students to get right
answer for questions, but rather create language.
Also you can have students use dictionaries to help encourage learning new vocabulary.
Keep questions vague to help students be more creative and provide more language.
There could be some students that don’t give full participation, be cautious and attentive to those students.
