You’ll leave with a family portrait! “Aſter Hurricane Sandy leſt thousands devastated in its wake, I saw a news story that changed me. A woman siſted through the rubble that was once her home in Rockaway, New York. A reporter watched as the woman plucked a single wedding photo -- buried, dirty and torn -- out of the ruins and stared at it. is was all that was leſt of her family’s history in photos. All the weddings, the bar mitzvahs, all the albums filled with people now deceased… they had been completely destroyed. It was a devastating portrait of a person who had lost everything. Photos help us to hold on to our histories and stay connected to the people we’ve loved who are gone.
