THE GOLDEN AGE OF CINEMA
Thursday, October 11
Our October General Meeting will
feature a very special event created for us
by one of our own Heritage Hunt
neighbors. Louisa Williams will be sharing
with us her marvelous collection of
autographed photographs of classic film
stars. Acquired in the 1920s and 30s by
Louisa’s mother and grandmother, this
collection truly illustrates the great names
of Hollywood’s Silent Era. The meeting
will be on Thursday, October 11 (a week
earlier than usual) and will be held at
Marsh Mansion parlor at 7 pm. After
hearing Louisa’s fascinating story we will
go across the street to her home where
she has graciously invited us to view her
collection. We hope everyone will be able
to attend this one of a kind experience.
HHLT‘s fall 2018 production of Neil Simon’s
The Odd Couple is deep in rehearsal with only
four weeks remaining before opening night.
Ted Day is busy with the construction of the
set; and the production crew is hard at work
on sound, lighting, makeup, props, tickets,
publicity, programs and the many other tasks
that go into the successful play production.
Andrea Silverman is the producer. We are
very grateful for the members who have
stepped up to read for actors who are absent.
Reservation forms (green form) are now
available at the Clubhouse and Marsh
Mansion. The production will include a
dinner theater as well as play-only tickets.
The production dates are Oct. 31, Nov. 1 and
Nov. 2. Invite your friends, neighbors, and
family. This is sure to be an enjoyable and
hilarious evening!
The Play Writing Contest deadline is drawing closer. Don’t forget to check the HHLT website (HHlittletheater.org) for the information, rules, and entry form. Find a friend and brain storm ideas. This can be a lot of fun. Put your ideas together. You can even take turns writing lines or characters. You never know how it will turn out! Deadline is December 15, 2018.
What a glorious day was had by all
HHLT members who attended the
“Annual No Ants Allowed” picnic on
Saturday, September 29. We are
immensely grateful to Georgiana and
Nick Ide for opening their beautiful
home and yard to us for another day
of food, fun, and friendship. Nick
grilled burgers for over 40
attendees. Cornhole games and
Jeopardy filled the day as well as
lots of talk and good food. We also
gathered 6 big boxes of donations
for the Haymarket Food Pantry
which were delivered by Mary Ann
and Chris Bosco. Thanks to all who
came. We greatly appreciate
Georgiana and Nick’s generosity and
time to make the picnic a great
success!
Prince William Little Theatre’s
Fall Production will be presented at 8
pm on Oct. 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, and at
2 pm on Oct. 13, 14, and 21st. Come
and see Laura Mills (daughter of
HHLT member) as Dora Lee,) and the
rest of the great cast as they
perform Dolly Parton’s wonderful
musical 9 to 5! For more information

MAKEUP WORKSHOP
OCTOBER 4
We were privileged to have Laura Macario
of Artistic Concepts Group of Chantilly
conduct our first Makeup Workshop on
Thursday, Oct.4. Fifteen participants
(including the cast of The Odd Couple) had
a chance to learn about the techniques of
stage makeup from a professional, as well
as practice on the cast members. With
Laura’s direction we learned about colors,
shading, highlighting and the importance
of lighting to the actor’s appearance on
stage. We thank Laura for sharing her
expertise with us. And a big thanks to Val
Bowman for arranging this interesting and
useful program for us!
