Outcome of HRD in theOrganizational context

HRD in the context of an organization refers to:

The improvement in the capacities and capabilities of the

personnel in relation to the needs of the organization It involves the use of processes through which the

personnel in an organization are prepared to give theirbest for corporate objectives and achieve optimaleffectiveness in their job roles.

It involves the setting up of systems through whichhuman capabilities and potential can be identified andtopped to the mutual satisfaction of the individual andthe organization.

HRD, in the organizational context, is the processby which employees of an organization arecontinuously held in a planned way:

To acquire capabilities (knowledge, perspectives, values,attitudes and skills) required to perform various tasks orfunctions associated with present or future expected roles;

To develop this general enabling capabilities as individual sothat they are able to discover & utilize their own inner potentialfor their own or organizational development purposes; and

To develop an organizational culture where superior-subordinate relationships, team-work & collaboration amongdifferent sub-units are strong & contribute to theorganizational health, dynamism & pride of employees.

Outcome of HRD in theNational context

In the National context HRD is a process by which thepeople in various groups ( age groups, regional groups,socio-economic groups, community groups etc.) arehelped to acquire new competencies continuously so asto make them more and more self-reliant & simultaneously develop a sense of pride in their country.

The public organizations including the governmentdepartments play an important role at the organizationallevels.

These organizations have been attempting to create & improve their HRD climate through various mechanismslike Performance Appraisal, Job Rotation, Feedback & Counseling, Career Planning & Job EnrichmentProgramme.

As the human resources of a country develop, thecountry progresses and the benefits spread all overthe country. Better skilled and well-trained humanresources attract a larger foreign direct investmentinto the country and improve the brand image of 

the country internationally.

Increase in Entrepreneurial Activity:

Human resource development may occur as aresult of better education, training or development

of vocational skills for individuals. This activityresults in an increase in entrepreneurial activitydue to the creative process that is encouraged byHRD. Moreover, even in an economy faced by highlevels of unemployment, vocational training cangenerate substantial number of entrepreneurs wholook for self-employment. Thus, HRD opens moreoptions and wider avenues of success forindividuals

Increase in Productivity:

HRD leads to better and efficient utilization of the

available resources. The same numbers of individuals are able to improve their performancethrough training or learning of more productiveskills. This leads to an increase in productivity inthe same company at the firm-wide level and to anincrease in the overall value of goods produced atthe country-wide level. An increase in productivityof employees generates high economic progress forthe country.

Most companies today are focused onhiring a well-trained and competitive workforce inorder to develop a unique selling point andenhance their profitability.

Demographic Effect:

HRD results in more households with two working

parents. This provides enhanced income for thehousehold and at the same time reduces the timeavailable to parents for raising kids. As a result, abetter educated workforce results in a smallerincrease in the population of the country. For

countries like India, HRD can help prevent thepopulation from increasing beyond control.

  Counteracting Social Taboos:

HRD can lead to a change in social perception of many people and can result in the development of the society. Better educated and skilled workerscan think and act more constructively and result in

a change of the social environment. Improvededucation leads to self-awareness and preventsindividuals from embracing superstitions.
