HUMAN FAT TISSUE BANKHUMAN FAT TISSUE BANKIntroduction:Like a Blood Bank, the possibility of Fat bank is no more a dream. It has been proved that, if the fat cells are kept at hypothermic, sterile favourable environment, fat can be preserved for long time use for auto fat transfusion. Large quantities of fat are stored in two major tissues of the body, the adipose tissue and the liver. The adipose tissue is usually called the fat deposits, or simply the fat depots. The major function of adipose tissue is storage of triglycerides until these are needed to provide energy elsewhere in the body. However, a subsidiary function is to provide heat insulation for the body.
Concepts:
The fat cells of adipose tissue are modified fibroblasts that are capable
of storing almost pure triglycerides in quantities equal to 80 to 95
percent of their volume. The triglycerides are generally in a liquid form,
and when the tissues of the skin are exposed to prolonged cold, the fatty
acid chains of the triglycerides, over a period of weeks, become shorter
or more unsaturated to decrease their melting point, thereby always
allowing the fat to remain in a liquid state. This particularly important
because only liquid fat can be hydrolyzed and transported from the
cells.
Procedures: 1. Liposuction can suck out the excess fat from all unwanted body areas.
2. This fat can be stored at hypothermic, sterile favourable condition.
3. This fat can be used to refill the creases & defects of ageing of face and body.
Uses: 1. Aesthetic balancing of face and body
2. Anti-ageing, to fill the wrinkles and creases
3. Contouring defects due to trauma
Method:Under sterile conditions fat is directly stored in 5 to 10 cc syringes either, or the fat, which is sucked out during the liposuction procedures is thoroughly washed with normal saline and stored in 5 - 10 cc syringes under hypothermic conditions. The fat tissue in sterile syringe is sealed in a sterile test tube with proper label, code and nomenclature of individual patients. The fat is then transferred to the tissue banking deep freezers at -80`C for a desired duration. At the time of application fat is brought to the normal body temperature and administered at the required body areas.
Observation:
Autologus fat grafting is highly successful and proves better, economic,
less absorbable and less reactive than collagen, zyderm, zyplast,
restylene, bioplast or other bovine protein. Autologus fat graft stays
happily between 12 weeks to 24 months and generates less scaring than
other material.

Conclusion:
The Human Fat Tissue Banking has a very high potential for fat
collection, storing, preservations and reutilization in following
manners.
1. Autologus Fat Grafting- from with in individual human body
2. Homologues Fat Grafting- from one human body to other human
body
3. Heterologus Fat Grafting- from nearest subspecies to human body
