Plot Overview

The Widow Douglas and her sister, Miss Watson, have taken Huck into their home in order to civilize him. Instead of obeying them , Huck sneaks out of the house at night to join Tom Sawyer's gang and pretend that they are robbers and pirates.

Episode : 1 Summary

I lived with the widow Douglas , who took care of me and her sister , Miss Watson , but I don’t like living in a house , so I ran away . Then my friend Tom Sawyer found me and made me come back.

I went to school and learnt to read and write a little . I used to play with Tom . I hate all the chores Mrs. Douglas made me do .She didn’t give me proper food .She used to lock me in the hut .I decided to escape . One day I found a canoe and hid it . Another day , I saw a long raft .One day when Widow Douglas had gone , I escaped to the river . There I met Jim , Miss Watson's servant .He had run away , because Miss Watson had accused him of stealing from one of her guests .He told me that Miss Watson was the real thief and had used him to cover up her own crimes. We prepared our raft to escape .

Episode 2 Summary

People were looking for Jim. They thought he was a runway criminal .We left the island. On the fifth night, we passed St. Louis. We were trying to get to Cairo, Illinois .There, a boat with three men were looking for a runway thief. They asked me if there was anyone on the raft. I told them my ill father with the smallpox. They gave me 20 dollars and left .That night a big streamer rammed us. They smashed the raft and we had to swim to the shore. I called Jim's name but there was no reply. I met some people, they asked me if I knew the shepherd's sons. I said no, one of the young boys Buck, got me dry clothes. I went to their house, the head of the family was colonel Grangerfod. I understood that the Grangerfod and the shepherd's sons were enemies. The boy, Buck told me that a lot of people had been killed in the feud. That was because Miss Sophia Buck's youngest sister, and one of the shepherd's sons boys were planning to get married. Jack , the servant told me so . He told me also that Jim had found the raft and fixed it up. I went to the river and saw Jim , we were on the raft and heading down the river .

1- "You're the best friend I've ever had. I'll never forget you or your kindness." A- By whom and to whom was this statement said? Why? It was said to Huck by Jim because he helped him to escape.

2-"I paddled off to the Illinois shore. Just then, a boat with two men in it came alongside."

A- Who were the two men looking for? Why? They were looking for Jim, a runaway thief, who was accused of stealing. B- What did they give Huck? Why?

They gave him 20 dollars to pay for his father who had smallpox . 3- "I met some people, they asked me if I knew the shepherd's sons. I said no."

A- Who helped Huck after the steamer had smashed his raft ? One of the young boys , Buck , he got him dry clothes.

Episode three

While we were looking for berries to eat, I met two men. They said some people were chasing them and begged me to save their lives. So, I took them back to the raft. One of them was about 70 years old and the other one was about 30. The younger said he has lost his right and he was a poor man now but he was the Duke of the Bridgewater. He asked us to call him, your grace. The older said that he was the late Dauphin and that he should be now the King Louis the seventeenth of France. And the king wanted us to call him, your majesty. I

could see they weren’t real kings or Dukes, but just a couple of frauds. The duke brought a pack of posters out of his carpetbag. One of the posters advertised "The

world famous tragic actor. Garrick the Younger, of Drury Lane, London "The king and the Duke decided to heir a hall to show their play. One of the local men told us that all the townspeople had gone to a meeting in the woods. A man was shouting on a platform giving the townspeople a speech. Then the king got up on the platform and asked to speak. He told them he was a philosopher. He had been a famous writer and taught at New Orleans university .Then the king burst into tears. People collected money for him. He got eighty seven dollars .

Then he showed up a poster he'd printed about a runway thief. It was all about Jim and it offered a reward of 200 dollars for his capture. The Duke said that if we saw anyone coming, we could tie Jim up and say we captured him .After days we came to a little town in Arkansas. We were lucky because a circus was coming .

The Duke stuck up posters advertising our show in big letters. We had our show but there were

only twelve people there, they didn’t like the show. The next day the hall was full. The crowed loved the show but they were angry as the show was short. A strange man appeared and shouted, we have been tricked by these actors. They have only written half a play. "Let's go home and they will complete it tomorrow." The next night the hall was full again. There were no troubles and people said they had come back the next day to see the last part of the show. The third night was full again. This time they had rotten eggs and old cabbages in their pockets. They still hadn’t finished the play, so as soon as the audience was seated. They slipped out of the back door as Jim was waiting with the raft and quickly we were floating down the river again.

1- "One morning, I took the canoe and went ashore, looking for berries to eat. Suddenly, two men came running towards me." A. Who were the two men? What did they want? The younger was an actor and the older was a philosopher. Some people were

Before the show ended , they had slipped out of the back door as Jim was waiting with the raft and quickly they were floating down the river.

Episode Four

We met a young man " You are not Mr. Harvey Wilks !" He asked the king ." No" ,

the king replied .He told them the death of Peter, Mr. Harvey Wilks' brother and the wealth he left behind him for Mr. Harvey wilks .The king gathered all the information from the Young man .The king and the Duke wore their best clothes and betrayed people there saying that the king was Harvey Wilks , Petre's brother . Then Mary Jane , Peter's daughter , read out a letter that her father had left behind . It said that there was six thousand dollars hidden in the cellar. They found the money. Then the duke said they should give all the money to the daughters. They gave the money to the girls, as a trick. Peter's doctor didn’t believe the king and the duke were Harvey and William Wilks . Mary Jane refused to take the money and begged the doctor to leave them. Then the king and the duke were planning to run away.

I felt so bad that I had to do something about it. I took the money from under the bed . I had to hide it in an old box because someone was coming . Then I met Mary Jane packing a suitcase and crying because she thought she would live with her uncles in England . I told her the truth. She was mad but I told her to keep quiet . Next day , the king and the duke hold an auction of the property . There appeared a gentleman saying he was Harvey Wilks . All people gathered to see the scene. The lawyer interrupted the argument saying let's find his daughters to see which one is a fraud . Mary Jane said that the boy told me the truth . Then I ran as fast as I could to the river bank and asked Jim to come quickly to escape. We could rid of these two frauds at last . The king and the duke were heading for us . The king accused me of running away and leaving them. We didn’t stop at any town for days , but just kept on drifting south . They started working their tricks again as they opened a dancing school but neither of them could dance. So, they were thrown out of the town.

Episode Five

One day , they went ashore and started fighting . I saw my chance to escape them . I looked for them but a boy told me that the king had sold Jim as a servant to Mr. Phelps , who lived outside the town for forty dollars. I decided to I would write a letter to Miss Watson but I tore up the letter at last . I went to look for Phelps' farm , but I saw the duke. He was sticking posters for the kings Camelopard . Near the farmhouse a lady came holding her arms saying" It's you at last ! come , children , come and see Tom ! " She thought I was Tom Sawyer , the son of their family friends. I didn’t know what to say but I told them I have to go back to the town to bring my bags. On my way I saw Tom Sawyer , he was surprised to see me . I told him the story and he promised me to help Jim set free. Tom and I looked for Jim . While looking for him we saw the king and the duke tied onto poles covered with tar and feather.

1- "Miss Watson, your runaway servant, Jim, is here at Pikesville and Mr. Phelps will give him back to you for the reward."

A- Who sent this letter, to whom? Why? Huckleberry Finn to Miss Watson. He wanted to save his friend and send him back to her. B- Did Miss Watson receive the letter? Why \ Why not? Episode Six

Tom had seen one of the boys carrying food to a hut. We asked the boy to let us see Jim, we told Jim that we will set him free. Just like the adventures Tom read, he wanted to use unordinary things to set Jim free. we were about to escape but Tom said he had an idea which he got from the books and that was to collect spiders ,put them in sacks then put them in Jim's hut. The weeks passed and we were ready to set Jim free but Tom said that we had to have an anonymous letter, a warning to the family that someone was going to release Jim ,to make things more difficult.

We got Jim out and ran for the river. Some of the farmers were chasing us .Tom had twisted his ankle while running away .So we had to find a doctor for him. The next morning, the doctor brought tom home on a mattress. Some of the farmers wanted to punish Jim for running away, but the doctor spoke up for him saying this brave man helped the two boys and he should be set free.

Then Tom said that old Miss Watson died two months ago and she set Jim free in her will. Then came Aunt Polly and said that Tom was right. I asked Tom why you were trying to set him free while he was already free .He said he was going to take Jim to New Orleans and tell him he was free. Then he would pay for Jim a steamer back home. So Jim would be a hero at home and so would we. Tom gave Jim forty dollars for being such a good prisoner.

Now Aunt Sally wants to adopt me and civilize me, but I think I will run away again. I've been civilized before and I can't stand it.
