The Greek computer game

The students from Vrilissia, Greece, made a computer game. Here is a screenshot from the electronic game about Athens and Greece:

You may download the game from the internet address:

http://www.twinninggame.all-together-now.eu/ .

You will have to unzip the file and run the file Game.exe. The game was made by Marios Katsigiannis, Tasos Velentzas and Dionysis Grigoropoulos (programming, graphics) and the rest of the team prepared the questions.

Wiktor's computer quiz

Wiktor from class 1a made a Polish-Greek quiz in Visual Basic. The game has over 100 questions on Polish and Greek matters. The questions are coded, so that the user cannot see them. They are randomly chosen. Here is a screenshots from the game.

You may download from the website. You may also get the decoder which may code and decode questions. If you have any questions, please contact Victor.

You wanna win a Million?

Here you can see a popular game of "Millionnaire" that was shown on Polish television two years ago. It is shown on Greek TV, too.

Now, it is not more available on Polish TV but you may try to win one million Hearts (new European currency!) here, on our "Twinning Game" webpage.

The questions to the game were written by the Greek and Polish students, programming in Actionscript was done by the students and the informatics teacher Leszek Jablonski.

In the eTwinning project the Polish school made some more computer quizzes and games. The curriculum of Informatics was especially adapted to The Twinning Game project. The students made quizzes and games in Macromedia Flash. The code was written on the basis of Gary Rosenzweig’s book “ActionScript for Fun and Games” and the ideas come from students themselves. The students liked designing games very much. They are available on the Internet and both teams could play them.

This is Peter Piatek’s idea of the game based on the film “Ice Age 2”. The game was shared with the kindergarten “Palacyk” in Katowice – the children may play it on the

Internet.

This game was made by Mateusz with a little help by his Informatics teacher Leszek Jablonski.

Mateusz is a hockey player in Naprzod Janow hockey club. In this game, he catches gold medals.

How did we use ICT in the project?

Most work was done in the schools computer rooms. Both pupils and teachers used various tools: email, web browsers, editors of HTML languages, PHP and Flash programs, the "Joomla" CMS (our website is based on Joomla), our webpages, forum and chat, digital cameras and video cameras, as well as software. We really practised using different types of software for word processing, for editing photographs, for making the board games, for cutting the videos and for programming the computer games. Some of these tools were new to some, but it is almost certain that they were new to all of us as a means of teaching and learning.Working on the board game using "Paint" and "Photoshop"

This activity turned out to be very entertaining, as well as of great educational value. Everybody liked it very much!

The board game made by the Greeks was used in English classes by Mrs Wanda

Poplawska, a teacher of English.

Another group played the Millionaire Game, trying to answer both Polish and Greek questions.

The students from both schools designed a survey „What we like and dislike in the school”. On Economics lesson led by Yannis Tsilafakis, they compared the Polish and Greek results, and with the use of computers and a spreadsheet program they drew the charts.

In the Polish school a group of more advanced students from class 3a made this survey in PHP language and launched it on the Internet.

The discharge of the Greek envoys

In the attic of the school we could see a theatrical performance "The Discharge of the Greek Envoys" prepared by class 1b. The author is Jan Kochanowski, living in 16th century, one of the first poets who used Polish language. The plot of the play is based on the arrival of Greek envoys in Troy and their demand to take Helen with them. Some of the citizens of Troy wanted to hand Helen over, others were against this.
