MEET INFORMATIONMEET INFORMATIONMEET INFORMATIONMEET INFORMATION Date: Saturday, June 5 – Sunday, June 6, 2010 Location: Douglas Snow Aquatic Centre 5100 Yonge Street, North York

Facility: All events will be swum in a 50 metre 6 –lane pool Competition: Sanctioned by Swim Ontario. All Current SNC Rules and Warm Up procedures will be followed. All events will be timed finals. A swimmer may only compete in his/her own age group. Meet Manager: Yvonne Moy, Bob Spitz Meet Referee Dave Thompson

Eligibility: All swimmers registered with swim Ontario or any other amateur swimming organization recognized by FINA. Ages submitted are to be as of the start date of the meet, June 5. Age groups: 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13 and over

Pre-requisites: 200 IM 10&under No standard 400 Free 10&under No standard 11-14 6:00.00 11-14 9:00.00

Qualifying: “C” standard or slower. Swimmers are eligible to compete in any event for which they did not qualifiy for the Swim Ontario “B” standard as of May 21, 2010. All coaches are asked to adhere to time standards in all events when entering their swimmers. Any swimmer found to meet “B” or higher standard will swim exhibition only. The Meet manager reserves the right to request proof of times for any swimmer winning an individual high point award. Entries: The only Meet Package that will be considered as valid must be the most current version found on www.swimmeet.ca

Meet Management reserves the right to delete a swimmer from an entry or results file for incorrect or absent 9 digit ID numbers and/or incorrect date of birth. Only swimmers (includes age group and all university athletes) with valid Swimming Canada identification numbers will be considered for acceptance into the meet.

All entry times will be converted to LC times, using the default conversion factors in Hy-Tek Meet Manager, and then seeded accordingly. Non conforming times (yards etc) will be seeded last. Entries should be submitted using the appropriate provable time, and meet management will convert times prior to seeding.

This is an invitational meet and participation at this meet is at the full discretion of North York Aquatic Club. Swimmers may swim a maximum of 3 events per session.

Meet Management reserves the right to limit the number of heats to ensure sessions remain under 4.5 hours.

Entry deadline: Entries must be received by Friday May 21, 2010. Changes will be accepted till midnight Sunday May 30, 2010

All entries must be in Hy-Tek format and submitted via www.swimmeet.ca No entries will be accepted directly by meet management. Entries are only considered confirmed once you have received a confirmation from Meet Management.

Entry Fees: $8.00 per individual event, $10.00 per relay. This includes the Swim Ontario gold bonus. Cheques payable to “North York Aquatic Club” must be delivered to Meet Manager prior to the Saturday AM start.

Sratches: Scratches from the meet are to be to the Clerk of Course at least 30 minutes before the session start. There will be no penalty for late scratches.

Deck Entries: Deck entries are permitted in empty lanes only, at the discretion of Meet Manager, at a charge of $10.00 per event payable to “NYAC” or cash and will be recorded as exhibition only. Swimmers without correct 9 digit ID number and DOB will not be accepted. Clerk of Course:Swimmers must check in to the Clerk of Course for all swims.

Awards: Ribbons 1st to 3rd will be awarded for the following age groups 8&U, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15&O

Scoring: None Results: Complete results and Hy-Tek file will be posted on http://www.swimmeet.ca as soon as possible Live results will be available on Club’s website (www.nyac.on.ca) Meet Notes: 1. The pool is restricted to swimmers, swim officials, coaches, life guards, and pool staff only.

Swimmers wishing to meet with their parents/guardians and vice versa must arrange to do so away from the pool deck.

2. Club photographers must obtain consent from the meet manager prior to taking photos on deck. Session Times: Meet Management reserves the right to change start times for sessions.

Limitation of Liability:

North York Aquatic Club members, coaches and the Board assume no responsibility for swimmers who are left at the pool by their parents or guardians, and whose parents fail to pick their children up in time at the end of the session. Parents who plan to drop their child off are responsible for ensuring their safety before, during and after the meet. To ensure that, they should confirm that their child(ren)/swimmer(s) arrive safely on deck, that they are placed in the care of their coach(s), and that appropriate arrangements are made for them to be picked up once they have finished their events.

DOUGLAS SNOW AQUATIC CENTRE RULES:

The pool deck is restricted to use by swimmers, coaches and officials. The second floor gallery and lounge is for the use of parents and other spectators. No glass containers are allowed in the deck and gallery area. Swim bags or other items must not be placed in the planters. Garbage must be placed in the litter containers provided.

As per HEALTH REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF TORONTO spitting in the pool or on the pool deck will result in ejection from the meet. No food is permitted on the pool deck. No outside shoes are permitted on the pool deck and swimmers must wear footwear while on deck.

No hand paddles or fins are to be used during warm-ups. Diving into the pool during warm-up, other than in designated sprint lanes, will result in ejection from the session and possibly the meet.

POOL CONDITIONS FOR THE USE OF STARTING BLOCKS:

If the depth of the pool is less than 1.2 metres (4 feet), swimmers must not use the starting blocks for dive starts. If these conditions exist, the starting dive should be made from the edge of the pool (deck level).

NOTE: This applies for both warm ups and races. Furthermore, any club using a pool where the starting blocks are located at the shallow end, and the depth is less than 1.2 metres (4 feet), request should be made to the pool governing body to relocate the starting blocks to the deep end. Swimmers will be pushing off from the water when starting from the shallow end of the pool.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION:

Parking is available underground at the North York Civic Center. The ramp entrance is on the north side of the pool off Beecroft Avenue

Out of town visitors may stay at the Novotel Hotel adjacent to the pool.

Swimming/Natation Canada Risk Management / Warm-Up Procedures 2009

During the designated warm-up period, the meet management committee shall be responsible for ensuring that all Risk Management/Warm-up procedures are followed. It is incumbent on all participants, i.e. meet management, coaches, swimmers, and officials to comply with these procedures. Non-compliance with these procedures will result in a warning or removal of the swimmer from the warm-up pool, and possible further reporting to meet management and the Referee for action under rule SW 2.1.1.

Meet management shall designate Safety Marshals to actively monitor the warm-up period in the competition pool and ensure compliance with these procedures. Safety Marshals should be notified of any disabled swimmers who are participating in warm-ups. Additional “practice” pools, if any, are to be supervised by lifeguards and coaches.

“Safety Marshals shall be responsible to the Referee for all aspects of safety related to conduct during the warm-up period and shall ensure that all appropriate warm-up procedures are followed.” (CSW 2.13.1.5)

GENERAL WARM-UP RULES:

• Swimmers shall enter the water FEET FIRST in a cautious manner.

• No Running on the pool deck or Diving from the side of the pool.

• Meet Management shall provide signage to indicate designated lane use during warm-up.

• Notices/barriers shall be placed on starting blocks to prevent diving during the general warm-up.

• Diving Starts are only permitted in designated Sprint Lanes during the warm-up period.

• Lanes shall be open primarily for ‘Circle Swimming’ during the General warm-up period.

• Coaches and swimmers shall allow Backstrokers & PARA swimmers the ‘right of way’ for safety purposes.

• Meet Management may designate a Sprint Lane(s) and/or a Pace Lane(s) throughout the general warm-up period.

SPECIFIC/SPRINT WARM-UP PERIOD: Sprint and Pace lanes must be opened for at least the last 30 minutes of warm-ups or as designated by meet management.

• Outside Lanes should be designated as Sprint Lanes.

• Only ‘one-way’ swimming shall be permitted in Sprint Lanes.

• Sprint Lanes, Pace Lanes, and Circle Swimming lanes shall be clearly marked with signage.

The following statement shall appear in the meet information and in posted notices:

"SNC WARM UP PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET".

EQUIPMENT:

• FLUTTER BOARDS and PULL BUOYS are allowed.

• HAND PADDLES and FLIPPERS (ZOOMERS) are NOT ALLOWED.
