HS Announcements: Monday, Sept. 10th High School 1. Class officer campaigning is this week. Speeches will be Tuesday during homeroom and elections will be this Friday. 2. All vehicles must have a parking pass– even those parked in the gravel. If you still need a parking pass, see Mrs. Neer. 3. Attention Juniors & Seniors. The following institutions and military branches will have representatives here to meet with you during homeroom time: 9/18 – Urbana University 9/11- Ohio Christian University 9/19- Cleveland Institute of Art 9/13- Army, Army Reserves, Special Ops 9/20- Shawnee State 9/14 – University of Findlay 9/24 – Bowling Green State University 9/17 – Army National Guard 9/25 – Cedarville University Please stop by guidance to sign up or if you have any questions. 4. Homecoming is the week after next. If you plan to bring a guest to the Homecoming dance (meaning someone who is not currently a student at WLS high school) you need to get a guest form from Mrs. Neer in the office. 5. The PSAT Test for Juniors will be given on Oct. 17 th . The cost for the test this year is $14.50. Please see Mrs. Tennant in the guidance office before 11:30am to pay for this test. The deadline for registration and payment is Friday, Sept. 14 th . Athletics 1. The Varisty Boys Cross Country team finished 17th overall out of 39 teams at the biggest meet in the State of Ohio, the Tiffin Carnival Invitational on Saturday. The Division III boys race featured 23 state-ranked teams and 277 total runners. Top four finishers for WLS were Aaron Scott-27 th , Alex Adams-49 th , Chris Buschur-89 th and Alex Steiner-116 th . Our next meet is this Saturday at the Graham Invitational 2. The Varsity Girls Cross Country team finished 3 rd out of 50 teams. Of the 334 runners, Meghan Vogel was 3 rd , Shawnda Henault was 15 th , Jasmine Smith 21 st and Alyssa Strickland was 47 th . The Tiffin Carnival Invitational is the 2 nd largest cross country meet in the nation with over 7,500 runners. 3. The JV Girls Soccer team played their first game of the season on Saturday as we tied Kenton Ridge by a score of 1-1. Hailey Miller scored for WLS and Lauren Godwin had 9 saves in goal. Next game is Tuesday at Graham. 4. The Varsity Boys Golf team competed in the Shawnee Invitational on Saturday and finished 9th out of 24 teams. Nick Sims was tournament medalist with a 2 under 70. Other top four scores for WLS were Jacob Rutan-84, Ethan McBean-88, and Casey Gay-101. Nick Sims set a school record by finishing an 18 hole match at 2 under. Next match is today against SCC. 5. The Varsity Football team defeated Riverside on Friday by a score of 48-0. The game was called with three minutes to go in the first half due to lightning. 6. The WLS 8th grade Volleyball team lost to Shawnee on Saturday. Kelby Strapp had 9 points, 2 aces, and 3 kills. Milkalia McIntosh had 6 points and 4 kills. Olivia Ames had 5 points, 3 aces and 3 kills. Camille Whitcraft had 5 points and 1 ace. Kiana Reames also had 5 points and 3 kills. WLS 8th grade volleyball’s record is now 2-3. WLS will host Miami View today.
