This is an impressive double Cd from the Bulgarian guitarist (now based in San Francisco). For starters I would like to stress Hristo’s delicacy, sensitivity and good taste he possesses for composing as well as his technical originality and creativity that he is able to put into his interpretation of the melody in order to magnify its power. On top of everything he adds and presents harmonies that are simply flawless. Accompanied by great musicians, who speak between each other effortless- ly, together they generate many exciting musical climates. Hristo feels as comfortable with the music presented here as a fish in water. We should also acknowledge the work of the great pianist Jasnam Dayah Singh (Weber Iago) and the rhythm section made up of Dan Robbins (bass) and Mike Shannon (drums). The quartet understands each other and their interaction is seamless. SOLID! Jazz is rhythm and melody, and Hristo gets that very clearly. He knows exactly what he wants and how to get it. Today many musicians want to innovate but do not have the understanding nor skills to do it. It is for this reason that many works of avant-garde jazz are extremely boring. This is definitely not the case here. On the contrary, this album should be taken as an example! When ideas are clear and fresh the result is in sight. Simply put, better jazz! If you can get your hands on this album, please do not miss listening to this great work. IMPECCABLE. IMPECABLE.
