Term 4 Issue 35
Thursday 5 November 2015 Change to our Daily Organisation – Monday 9th November
Several weeks ago we were selected to be part of a new school evaluation process called
‘External Validation’. External Validation is a process in which schools provide evidence of
achievements and ongoing progress assessed using the School Excellence Framework.
Over the last few weeks we have been busy compiling our evidence in readiness for the next
part of the process.
The next part of the process will take place next Monday when we will be visited by a team of
two Principal School Leaders from outside our area, who will conduct a meeting with the
school Executive and a number of our staff.
To accommodate this process, there will need to be changes made to the organisation of our
day.
These changes are as follows:
9.00am assembly as usual
10.00am -10.20am—Short Recess break/fruit time
12.00pm -1.00pm - Lunch break
2.00pm - 2.20pm - Recess break
These changes will only take place for next Monday. Normal routines will resume on
Tuesday.
Parenting Opportunity
In response to lots of inquiries and
lots of comments made by parents
of pre – teens, we have organised
an information session specifically
to address the perils and pitfalls of
being a parent of a pre-teen.
Evie Bradley, our very experienced
psychologist and School Counsellor
will run this session on Wednesday
18th November @6.30pm in the Library.
Not to be missed! It is specifically for parents of students in
Years 5 and 6. Please see the attached flyer at the end of
this newsletter for further details.
Please contact the school office on 6026 5206 and
leave your name and contact number if you are
interested in going.

KJ and KN made bowties and fascinators ready for the Melbourne Cup. We were all given a head piece and bowtie each to
decorate with coloured paper/cardboard. We used shaped scissors to cut patterns and strips, some of us traced and cut out
our hands and curled the fingers to make flowers. With our bowties we used bright coloured felt tip pens to colour them in.
Then we used masking tape to stick our amazing pieces together!!
When we were all finished we had a fashion parade through the library to show Mrs Mac and the 5/6class.

Probability in Maths
How likely something is to happen.
Many events can't be predicted with total certainty. The
best we can say is how likely they are to happen, using the
idea of probability.
Measurement in Maths
Measurement is finding a number that shows the size or
amount of something.
Measurement in time is seconds, minutes, hours, day or week…...

Parent Survey Responses
Successful schools foster greater communication with parents, encourage parental involvement in their child's schoolwork, and enlist parents to volunteer at the school and participate in school governance.
The survey recently completed by parents also provides feedback to us about the extent to which parents feel the school supports learning and positive behaviour and promotes a safe and inclusive environment.
The survey included eight separate measures, which were scored on a
ten-point scale. Below are some of the responses in these eight measures.
A full drill down of information will be presented at the next P&C Meeting
and suggestions for how we can continue to improve will be sought. Please
come along to contribute to the discussion.

Recap
Last week we faced the foliage with some wonderful self-
portraits using only natural materials that we found around
school. We also searched for pirate treasure, combined 2D and
3D pictures to make awesome artwork and turned the sandpit
into a dinosaur world. We finished the week with a Halloween
party where we made some super healthy jack-o-lanterns from
oranges and filled them with fruit salad, and added orange
food colouring to our favourite gluten free marshmallow slice
and shaped it into pumpkins. Yum!
