How to Setup Google Apps With Your Domain

Step1: Purchase New Domain Name In Your Domain Manager

To get a business email with Google Apps, you first need to own a domain. If you already own a domain name you can skip ahead to Step 2. If not, keep reading.

NOTE: If you do not already own a domain name it is HIGHLY recommended to purchase yours inside the system. There are many benefits to doing so:

1. We host your domain name on our servers for FREE 2. You will have direct access to all of our website/landing page templates

without having to mess with any DNS Settings (if you are not familiar with DNS Settings that is just one more reason you should purchase your domain name with us).

3. We do not keep your domain name hostage! If you ever decide to leave us, you keep your domain!

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s show you how to buy your domain name. You will first need to access your domain manager inside the system

After clicking “Buy New Domain”, you will be prompted to search for a domain name. In the example below, I typed in “abcrealtyco”. It is important to note that you only want to include the domain name, and not the extension (.com, etc.). You will have the option to choose your extension from the drop down box to the right of your domain name.

After Checking for the availability of your domain name, you will be notified if the domain is available or already taken. If the domain is already taken, you will have to either think of a different variation of your desired domain, or go back to the drawing board and think up an entirely new domain name. Once you find a domain that you liked, and is available, you will be able to choose your method of payment, agree to the Terms of Services, and purchase your new domain name.

Congratulations! You have now purchased your very own domain name and are ready to get started! Step 2: Set Up Your Google Apps Account

If you aren’t already familiar with Google Apps, it is just one way to get an email for your business (in our opinion one of the best value for your money). You will first need to navigate to apps.google.com. Once there, click the “Get Started” button on the top right corner of your screen.

Your first step in getting your account setup is entering some basic information about yourself and your business.

1. First and Last Name 2. Add your current email address you use (ie: your current Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail,

etc. account) 3. The name of your business 4. How many employees you have 5. The country your company is registered in 6. Phone Number

Choose whether or not you want to use a domain name you already own, or choose to purchase your domain with Google.

1. Choose you already own a domain (Highly Recommended) 2. Enter your domain name that you purchased with us.

1. Choose a username which will also function as your main business email, as well as creating a password

2. Accept the Terms of Services 3. Click “Accept and Sign Up”

Once your account information is complete, you will be taken to a screen that looks like this:

Chose the option to the right “Set up on your own”, but you won’t be alone don’t worry ;)

The next step is pretty simple, just click the “Start” button and off we go… Adding people to your Google Apps Account is optional, and if you are the only person in your business right now, it is obviously not necessary.

However if you do have employees or a partner, I would be happy to show you how to add them to your account.

1. Add your employee’s or partner’s first name and last name 2. Select their username/email address 3. If you have more than one person to add, you will need to click the “Add” button.

If not proceed to step 4 4. Acknowledge that you have added all users necessary 5. Pretty simple…click “Next”

Alright now we get into the fun part (and somewhat technical) but stay with me. I promise it is painless if you simply follow me step by step.

We are now starting the process of verifying that you do, in fact, own your domain name.

You will be asked if you want to “Verify by adding a meta tag”. You do not want to do that, so click the dropdown “Choose a differed method” and choose the option shown above “Add a domain host record (TXT or CNAME).

Once you have done that, you will be prompted to log into your domain host’s site, which is simply the Domain Manager in your system shown below. For the next few steps, we are going to be hopping back and forth from the Google Apps Setup page and your Domain Manager.

You can then go back to your Google Apps setup and click “I have successfully logged in.”

You will not be instructed to “Go to the control panel for your domain” and access your domain’s DNS Manager.

You will need to go back to your Domain Manager and click the DNS button next to your domain name. Back in Google Apps, verify that you have accessed your DNS Setting by clicking the check box titled “I have opened the control panel for my domain.”

Your next step is to add a new TXT Record to your domain in your Domain Manger.

1. The @ symbol will be placed under the subdomain in your domain’s DNS

Manager 2. The long code under the Value / Answer / Destination field will be entered into

the “text” field in your DNS Manager

Once you have added your TXT Record click “Update DNS” and go back to Google Apps

Click the checkbox above verifying that you saved the TXT Record in your Doman Manager. After you click the check box, you will be instructed to go back into your Domain Manager.

We will do this next, so go ahead and click the check box titled “I have opened the control panel for my domain. Navigate back to your DNS Settings for your domain name in the system. Once there you will need to scroll until you see “MX Records”

Simply click the button above “Add Google Apps MX Records” and 5 new MX records will appear.

Now that your MX records have been added to your domain name, navigate back to Google Apps and click the check box titled “I created the new MX records”

As well as the check box titled “I saved the MX records”

The next few steps will just be a few very simple clicks of the mouse!

Click “Verify Domain and Email Setup

Congratulations! Your domain name has been verified, and your email is now setup! Just a few more steps and you will be done!

You will start out with a free 30 days trial. To prevent your account from being suspended, and being locked out of your email, I recommend setting up your billing right away. To do so, go ahead a click “Continue”

You will then need to Log In to your account, and you will be taken to your Admin console

Once inside your Admin console, click “Set Up Billing”

Choose your billing

1. Choose between the flexible plan and the Annual Plan (Saves $10 annually) 2. Choose the number of users needed (If you are the only employee then you will

only need 1 user) 3. Click “Continue”

Enter your payment information and Click Continue Congratulations! You now have a legitimate email for your business that you can be proud to hand out and add to your business card!
