Sending Good Vibrations to the Audience
Defining “Resonance”: When an object’s natural vibration frequency responds to an external stimulus of the same frequency
This will cause CHANGE.
Remember? We like change.
Change is good.
Change is innovation.
How good would it be to have the power to change yourself and the power to change the whole world.
Just by sharing your thoughts and ideas.
Executive Survey Results show that
86% believe personal presentation skills directly impacts career and income
Executive Survey Results show that
36% find it challenging to put together a good message for a presentation

So Why Are Presentations So Boring?
Because facts and analysis are boring.
Because people are not moved by numbers.
People are moved by people.
If two products have the same features, the one that appeals to an emotional need will be chosen.
Hold on, a minute!
Stop being a hero.
Be less like Luke Skywalker.Yoda-like, be more you should.
Award winning
Saved the universe last summer About Us
We have been in business for a long time!
The audience is and always will be the hero.
See?
Create drama.
Method One: Syd Field’s Paradigm
Method Two: The Hero’s Journey
The audience’s journey
Method Three: Contour of Communication
Understand your hero
Design your presentation like a love letter.
What’s the big idea?
Your presentation message: one sentence, with your unique point of view.
“If we wait until we’re ready, we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives.”
- Lemony Snicket
It won’t be easy…
People don’t like to change because when you change, it means you sacrificed something else.
Don’t ignore this. Accept it.
• What are they sacrificing to adopt this idea? • How much will it cost them in time and
money?• What is the perceived risk?• Are there physical or emotional risks?• Who or what might they have to confront?
Then show them it’s worth it.
• Identify the reward• Identify personal benefits• Identify benefits by association• Identify benefit to mankind
Summary
Tell stories, not presentations
There are many ways to tell a story but you must first:
• Understand your hero • Decide on one big message • Acknowledge the risks• Acknowledge the rewards • Practice, practice, practice
“If I am to speak for ten minutes, I need a week for preparation; if fifteen minutes, three days; if half an hour, two days; if an hour, I am ready now.” – Woodrow Wilson
