How to make Tater Tot Casserole

Hi my name is Abby and today I will be
showing you how to make Tater Tot Casserole. There are many different variations of this
recipe but this particular one is my favorite. This is a quick and tasty dish that will satisfy a
hungry boyfriend.
Intro
Please be cautious when using knives in the
kitchen. Be careful not to burn yourself on the stove
top or oven. When inserting and removing a dish from the
oven be sure to use oven mitts or pot holders so you do not burn yourself.
Be sure to wash hands before you begin to cook and after you’ve handled raw meat as you do not want to cross contaminate.

What You’ll Need
2 pounds of hamburger 1 onion 1 can of cream of
mushroom soup 8 ounces of sour cream 1 pound of tater tots 2 cups of shredded cheese House seasoning to taste Mixing bowl 9 x 13 casserole dish Medium pan Cooking/Stirring utensils
The Process
Chopping & Preparing On a clean cutting board,
peel and chop one onion into small pieces using a chef knife.
Set onions aside. Drain hamburger meat of
any juices or blood. If the meat is frozen thaw it out ahead of time or use the microwave.
Cooking
Place a medium or large pan on the stove top and turn the burner on high.
Sprinkle some oil, extra olive or whichever you prefer, into the pan so the meat will not stick.
When the pan is heated enough add your hamburger meat to it, chopping it apart with a metal spatula to ensure it cooks evenly.
Cooking
After you break up the meat in the pan, add the chopped onion in.
Generously sprinkle house seasoning on the mixture and stir it in.
Consistently stir and mix the meat and onions until the meat is brown and the onions are transparent.
You should not have any pink meat showing.
Mixing
Next, get a medium size mixing bowl and a spoon or other utensil to stir with.
Using a can opener, manual or electric, open the can of cream of mushroom soup.
Then measure 8 ounces of sour cream.
Combine the sour cream and the cream of mushroom soup in the mixing bowl.
Mix the ingredients together, add a little bit of milk to make it less thick.
Combining
Once you are finished mixing the sour cream and cream of mushroom soup, add it to the pan with the cooked hamburger and onions.
Combining Continued Mix it together so
that the meat and onions are completely coated with the mixture.
Add to Dish
Next, spread it evenly into a 9 X 13 casserole dish.
Add Tater Tots
After you have the meat evenly spread in the dish, add a single layer of tater tots on top of it.
You want to place as many tater tots as you can so there is hardly any meat showing.
Smother with Cheese
Then sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the tater tots.
The recipe calls for one cup but I like to completely cover it with cheese until there is no tater tots showing.
The original recipe also says shredded cheddar cheese but I just use whatever kind of shredded cheese I feel like.
Preheat to 350°; Bake Uncovered for 45
minutes
Result!
If you followed the steps correctly you should be enjoying a delicious casserole that looks similar to the picture.
The cheese should’ve melted and coated the crispy tater tots.
The smell alone should make you want to dig in right away.
