Good Condition

Saris of silk, cotton, zari and other traditional embroidery, patch and sequence

works look amazing during festive season or wedding season. They are never

affordable, especially due to the work done on them and the fabric used to make

these fantastic looking saris. Due to the fabric and work done on the saree, it

becomes very difficult to maintain them. They are very delicate and cannot be

washed like other daily wear clothing. All the Indian traditional saris require special

care regime to be followed in order to maintain them for a longer period.

We all must have got that one silk saree from our mother, mother in law or

grandmother for wedding or any other special traditional event. They have kept

these saris for decades without even a minor cut in the fabric or faded spots of

colors. All the traditional methods require hard work and time for keeping the saree

like new for years, but with a couple of smart tips and consideration, you can also

keep your saris bright, vibrant and lustrous without any damage to the fabric. Here

- Wash it before storing!

Some of us lazy ladies try to store away saree without washing. Even though

you wore it for once, cosmetics, traces of perfume, sweat and other such

agents can cause yellowing of fabric, affecting its color. It is better to wash

the saree with delicate detergent or hire a dry cleaner for that purpose

before storing it away.

- Be gentle while washing!

All the Indian traditional saris are made up of delicate fabric. They cannot

bear the hardness of the rough detergents with soda and such other harsh

chemicals present in regular detergent solutions. You must use gentle

detergents or take professional help in keeping your saris as good as new.

- Save from moths!

Moths are the biggest enemy of any saree in storage. All your Indian

traditional saree shopping done for the years can go in vain if the moths

will make tiny little holes in the fabric or cause faded spots on its surface.

Store your saris, wrapped in tissue paper in airtight package along with a

couple of naphthalene balls with it. This will prevent all kinds of moth attacks

on the saree.
