- 2. Intro to Essential Oils Everybody around us is talking about essential oils and aromatherapy. ! However, thats not an invention of our time; it actually has been around for centuries, ancient cultures and traditional medicines making use of the distinctive characteristics and healing properties of essential oils. !
- 3. What Are Essential Oils? They are natural oils that are typically obtained by distillation. ! They have the characteristic odor of the plant or other source from which they are extracted. ! They have healing properties particular to the plant that they have been extracted from. ! They bring many health benets that modern medicine cannot compare to.
- 4. Benets of Essential Oils They ght stress.! They combat bacterial infections & can be used as rst aid.! They ease little aches & pains.! They stimulate cellular growth as well as renewal.! They reduce the chemical load in your home when used as cleansers & air refreshers.! They are good for the environment as they reduce your carbon footprint.
- 5. Application Example 1 Immediate Energy Boost! Inhale directly from an open bottle of peppermint essential oil to boost your concentration instantly. This works as well as caeine.! Add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to a diuser for the same immediate eect.
- 6. Application Example 2 Soothe Bug Bites! To relieve itching, swelling, and redness dab a little lavender or tea tree essential oil on the bite.! To ward o insects add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to the entry points of your house.
- 7. Application Example 3 Reduce Fine Lines & Wrinkles! Frankincense essential oil is high in anti-aging properties.! Rosemary essential oil has skin- tightening properties.! Mix a carrier oil (e.g. almond oil) with a few drops of essential oil & apply liberally on your face and neck.
- 8. Application Example 4 Increase Your Hairs Volume! Include 6 to 18 drops of rosemary essential oil in 3 ounces (90ml) of shampoo.! Mix 10 to 20 drops of rosemary essential oil with 2 teaspoons of carrier oil (e.g. coconut oil) & massage into your scalp. ! Make sure you work the oil mixture also down to the tips of your hair.
- 9. Application Example 5 Antibacterial Spray! Most essential oils have antibacterial properties - most common are peppermint, eucalyptus, and tea tree oil.! Mix 15 drops of any of these oils with a cup (250ml) of distilled water & use with a spray bottle.
