Kuwait Tourist Visas for Americans

DONT be intimidated by the steps below. It should be pretty straight forward but we wanted to

make sure you have all the info available to you just in case

Visas are next to gates 22-23 on the departures level (before passport control which isdownstairs). Do nothead down to Arrivals, instead look for the "Visa Issuing" desks opposite the

Dasman Lounge and near Chillis.

1. Grab a ticket a ticket from each machine (you're never sure which one is actually beingused that day). There probably wontbe a line to get a ticket (more of a mob), so just get in

there and get one (use your muscles). It all depends on how busy it is

2. Pick up a form from the first stall on the right and fill it out and get the person there to copyyour passport (you can make a couple copies before you come and bring them. If you dont

have time, dont worry). Fill out the form. There is no fee. MAKE SURE IF THERE'S A BOX

TO CHECK FOR PURPOSE OF VISIT, THAT YOU STATE YOU ARE ON A FAMILY VISIT OR

TOURISM. Do not state work or business. Tell them you are staying with your family (bespecific). You will need to state an address while in Kuwait.

3. Watch the digital counter (one might say 606 and the other 99). They may both work oronly one. Pay attention because they only give you a couple of seconds before they call the

next number. When your number is up go to the counter give the man or woman your

passport, xerox of your passport ID page. See below of the Arabic translations of things

they need to know.

4. You'll get an A4-sized sheet entirely in Arabic, which you must keep -- this is your visa!5. One you have the right paperwork, you go downstairs to passport control. You'll have to

wait in the (maybe) long line for "other nationalities" or "other passports." You'll hand the

passport guy/gal your paperwork and visa application. Your passport will be stamped.

Then you go to another gate where your passport is looked at again by another official.6. Finally you go to baggage claim (if you have bags). Look for the carousel that matches your

flight. If the visa process was fast (no lines), your backpack will be on the carousel. If it took

a long time your backpack will be stacked with other baggage.

7. Take your baggage to the Xray machine and run it through. Coat, carryon, everything. Thisis where they check to see it you are trying to smuggle alcohol into the country. Don't.

Usually you are just waved right through. Sometimes they ask a few questions, rarely you

are asked to open your bags. Just cooperate.

8. Once you get past the XRay and exit the sliding doors, we'll be waiting!9. One possible alternative to this scenario - If your flight is placed away from the terminal,

you may have to get on a little bus and drive to the terminal. Then you'll be arriving on the

ground floor, where passport control is located. You'll have to go UP the stairs/escalator to

the visa area. There's a sign on the left, next to the stairs/escalator, that says "visa." Go up

those stairs. You'll be in the area described above, with the chairs and counter and, often,

long lines of people waiting for flights.
