Make eye contact

Use your voice
• Everyone should be able to hear you• Speak at the right speed - a little slower
than everyday conversation• Use your voice to emphasise important
points• Show that you're questioning an issue
Use timing
• Pace your presentation • Don't be afraid of using short pauses • Avoid speaking too quickly• Time your practice presentation
Use 'signposts'
Use 'signposts' to • Help the listener follow your ideas and identify
different sections, • Indicate key points, supporting ideas and less
important information.

Some useful signposting phrases:• Good morning. My name is X, and this is my partner, Y. We are here today
to talk about…
• First, I’m going to … and then my partner will… etc.
• Let me hand you over to my partner.
• Now Y will explain…
• And now, Y will discuss….
