    HOW TO CONFIGURE

    KYL-500, KYL-200 and KYL-300 series

    Mini-size Wireless

    Data Transceiver Module

(By Dave Chika Chinweze, +2347060580383,e-mail:[email protected])

KYL-500S is a Mini-size RF transceiver. It is usually used for restricted space

application. With TTL interface, it is widely used for micro-controller wireless

communication and other TTL level port communication systems. It has high

    reliability and good performance.

Having used this RF module in most of my applications involving wireless data transfer, I recommend it

to all electronic hobbyists, Professionals etc.but unlike aTWSxxx,TLPxxxA series transmitters and

RWSxxxa,TLPxxx series receivers which are easy to use and does not require any configurations prior

to use in your embedded applications. Their Low Costs and Design make these hybrid modules suitable

for a Easy Link of Wireless applications. The typical range is 500ft for open area. (KLY500s1000meters

    at 1200bps; 600meters at 9600bps baud-rates).There are 433.92 MHz, 418Mhz and 315Mhz available

    TLP 315A TLP 315 RLP 315 RLP 315A

    TLP & RLP 315 MHz.

    Model Description

TLP 315 Transmitter at 315 Mhz.

TLP 315A Transmitter at 315 Mhz.

    RLP315 Receiver at 315 Mhz.

    RLP315A Receiver at 315MHZ.

This ASK transmitter module with an output of up to 8mW depending on power supply voltage. The

TLP transmitter is based on SAW resonator and accepts both linear and digital inputs, can operate from 2

to 12 Volts-DC, and makes building RF enabled products very easy.

This receiver has a sensitivity of 3uV. It operates from 4.5 to 5.5 volts-DC and has both linear and digital

outputs. The typical sensitivity is -103dbm and the typical current consumption is 3.5mA for 5V operation

    voltage.

CONFIGURING THE KLY500x,KLY200x AND KLY300x series.

    Step 1

Before using your KLY500 series RF modules you need to configure first with KLYCOM Transceiver

Demo software which you runs on your PC and the Rf module connected to Pcs serial port (dont worry

if your PC does not have serial port, you can use USB to serial port converter which adds a virtual Serial

    port to your PC.)

Extract the software using Winrar or WinZip, Run the KLYCOM, select or choose English.

Next is connect your KLYxxx Rf module to your Pc serial port (if your using a laptop without serial port

then purchase a usb to serial port converter, I normally use by prolific but any good one will work).

    STEP 2

Using the table and diagram below interface the Rf module to the to the Pc through max232, Please do

not forget to power the Rf module with a regulated 5volts Dc supply.

Interfacing KLY500, KLY200 and KLY300 series to Pc for configuration.

    STEP 3

Check all your connections for any errors. Run the KLYCOM and read the rf module after which

you can re-configure your own desired parameters.

You can use KYLCOM.exe software to read or set the parameter on computer. When you connect RF

module to PC by the testing cable, please remember to connect the DB9 as well as USB port to computer

or you use a USB to serial port Converter for Pcs without in built serial port. Also frequency points at

433MHz of 1-8 channels can be user configured as well.

    STEP 4

After configurations, KLYxxx modules can now be interfaced directly to your Microcontroller (No need

for Max232) because from the datasheet its output is TTL compatible.

    The Function-indicator light

    a. The red and green LED indicator turns on for 500mS when power on.

    b. The red LED indicator is always on when transmitting data. It is off when finishing data transmitting.

    Sleep function instruction:

In order to save power, KYL-500L transceivers support Sleep function. In sleep mode, the current

    consumption is less than 1uA.

    a. How to use the Sleep function:

The Pin7 SLP in JP1 is the signal of sleep control. At high power level, transceiver stays in working

mode. At low power level (
